Construction Management Association of America 2024 Project of the Year The West Maui Temporary School Project
$54M West Maui Temporary School Project Pono Aina Management served as the prime contractor for the $54M West Maui Temporary School Project. Our team had 95 days to construct 38 buildings, a parking lot, and a basketball court as a temporary replacement for the King Kamehameha III Elementary School that was destroyed in the Maui wildfires, displacing 600 school children. As many as 85% of the employees working on this project were Native Hawaiians. Many were directly impacted by the wildfires. The team completed the work on-time and on-budget with delivery to the US Army Corps of Engineers at the end of February 2024. The new school opened for classes April 1. The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) selected the West Maui Temporary School Project as the 2024 Project of the Year.
Our team worked 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to complete the school in 95 days.
$220M Maui Wildfire Debris Removal Hui Huliau Technology Services is the prime contractor for the $220M Maui Wildfire Debris Removal contract to clear debris and ash from 147 commercial, public, and historical properties destroyed in the August 2023 Lahaina wildfires. Our team includes experts in remediation; cultural, archeological, environmental, data, and quality control monitors; and construction, excavation, and trucking companies. This effort has a 12-month period of performance beginning in February 2024 and ending in February 2025. Approximately 75% of the employees are from Hawaii.
