The proposal is a result of the developed business case, which identified the long term provision of future care for the elderly within the town of Belper and the wider County.

The proposal is in keeping with the Amber Valley Borough Council Local development Plan and the NPPF, to ensure the proposal is sustainable economically, environmentally and socially.

The site is also located within an identified UNESCO World Heritage corridor within Derbyshire, which in turn has informed the design and links with the industrial heritage associated with the town of Belper in a sensitive and considered proposal.

Existing Site

The project aims to renovate the existing chocolate factory facade to retain the presence of this historical building. The facade is largely reused as new fenestrations. The new-built part of the project collaborates with the existing brick style and building language, but introduces a more contemporary and clean look to create a more elegant finish.
