Hexomatic Review

What is Hexomatic

Hexomatic is a web scraper that will automatically collect data from the internet (products, directories, prospects, and listings at scale…) and then convert or deliver the results in different formats such as pdf, a spreadsheet or even turn it into audio!

 Get product descriptions and images at scale

 Collect reviews from competitors

Sales teams can get more prospects:

 Finding local businesses

 Scraping online directories

As a marketer you can:

 See where your competitors are getting traffic from

 Detect what technology or CMS a website is using (offer WordPress services)

 Get WHOIS details and domain expiry of domains in bulk (can also be useful for someone who buys and sells domains for profit)

 Scrape SEO tags and use them to rank higher.

You can even automate finance or investment research by scraping stocks, cryptocurrency, currency, and other prices for investment assets.

How Does Hexomatic Work

Hexomatic has three main components: Workflows, Scraping Recipes and Workflows.

Workflows is the process of getting data from a website and then compiling into another format such as a google sheet.

Scrapping recipes allow you to choose where and what data to get and then you can integrate it in a workflow and tell hexomatic what you want to do or how to deliver that data.

Workflow uses that data for an automation which will do something with that data.

Hexomatic Pricing

When it comes to pricing there are 3 base plans for both monthly and annual subscriptions.

Like more cloud software the annual subscriptions are a bit cheaper but require a bigger commitment to the software and respective payments, where you pay a year upfront.

If you never tried the software, you can actually request a demo try it for free for 7 days to know whether or not it’s a good fit for you and your business.

For the monthly options there’s the silver plan for $49 per month with 4500 automation credits and a limit of 10 workflows running all together at once.

The gold plan starts at $99 per month with 10000 automation credits but can go all the way up to $990 per month depending on how many automation credits you need. Simultaneous workflows are unlimited in this case.

Annual plans keep the same main features for both Silver and Gold the only difference is in the price and billing. Silver costs $490 which would be $40.83 per month while Gold starts at $82.5 a month and goes up to $825.

There are multiple options depending on how much credits you need to avoid overspending even if you don’t need them!

If you scroll down, you will notice there’s a premium credits addon for $9.99 per month. Premium credits are used for premium automations that require 3rd party services outside hexomatic which means they come at a higher cost.

Premium automations include:

 DeepL & Google Translate

 Google & Google Maps data

 Email enrichment

 Traffic analysis

 Residential proxies

 Amazon Data

 SEO backlink data

Hexomatic Pros & Cons

Pros

 Easy to create workflow and scrapping recipes

 Very flexible for just one scraping tool

 Step-by-step guides covering a lot of tools on hexomatic academy

 Fast product support

 Updating existing functions and adding new ones

Cons

 Very extensive scraping tasks can take a while and sometimes get stuck so you might need to deconstruct them in smaller chunks.

 A lot of local directories and local business sites work but some other websites just don’t display the results you expect or just result in an error.

Hexomatic Dashboard

Once you sign up you will see the main dashboard with some stats for your credit usage, traffic usage and the status of your workflows.

At the top right there is a counter for Productive Time Saved and this represents roughly the time you are saving by using automations instead of doing the manual work.

Below that you can also see what workflows are currently running or done already. And you can also monitor your Automation and Premium credits.

Hexomatic Scrapping Recipes

There are two ways to use scrapping recipes. You can create your own recipe or use scraping recipe templates from the recipe library.

Scraping Recipe

Creating a recipe is super easy, you just need to give hexomatic the URL for a page or website you want to get data from.

Then select a browser mode, proxy mode and click preview to see the live page of the URL you just entered.

Sometimes certain URLs will not work or only work with a certain proxy mode so beware of that.

Now you need to select the data you want to scrape for example titles, a top yelp review or images.

You can either select a single element or click on it and then select all at once meaning that you can get all the titles, images or other elements at once.

At the right you can see the number of elements you have selected, give it a Field label, for example, title, choose a type which in this case would be text.

To make sure hexomatic you will scrape exactly the data you want make sure to check the sample value to see if it matches what you have selected on the preview.

With everything selected and ready to go you can click on save, but don’t forget to add a title and recipe description. This will make it easier to find later on if you have multiple recipes!

Recipe Library

Using templates from any of the hexomatic libraries will be as close as it gets to a one-click trouble free approach to scraping data.

And that also applies to the recipe library. This is also where you will be able to get a better idea of what you can do with the actual software.

Right away you can see a lot of listing sites and others where you can extract data from. Feel free to pause the video or slow it down to check some of these in more detail. I’m just going to point out some interesting ones.

You can scrape trendy quora questions to get insights for content marketing and potential quora questions you can answer to get more traffic.

Get the best appsumo deals to promote as an affiliate, purchase or just see what’s doing good if you want to launch your own app on their marketplace.

Scrape jobs titles and listings for multiple websites if you are looking for a job or want to create your own job board website.

And there many more ready to use recipes you can choose from and again preview, select the elements and save the recipe to use later on a workflow.

These recipes already come with pre-selected urls and elements to scrape but you can add your own or modify so of the existing ones.

Hexomatic Workflows

Workflows

There are four ways to start a workflow.

You can use:

 A workflow template from the workflow library,

 A data input in the form of a CSV, TXT, PDF but also audio images or list of keywords or URLS

 You can also use ready-made automations from the automation library (more on that later)

 Or just start from a recipe, you can use one you created before or just create one right now for a custom URL.

For this example, I’m just going to use my previous nightlife Yelp recipe and add one automation.

Just a quick reminder, automation is what will allow you to process and export the data.

There are quite a few options here as you can chain multiple automations and scraping recipes together on the same workflow.

We will soon explore more automation. Right now, I’m just going to keep it simple and select the export to google sheets automation.

Now that our workflow is ready, I can run it right now, use an hexowatch trigger or schedule the workflow (timezone, start date and extraction frequency).

Then you will find your current workflows by clicking on the workflow tab at the left side menu.

If you want you can delete, modify, pause, run or export the results to your preferred format.

Workflow Library

Just like the recipe library there’s also a workflow library with a lot of templates you can use for marketing, sales and research.

You can:

 Verify a list of email addresses

 Scrape B2B leads from Google Maps

 Find affiliates for your products

 Get influencers contact details for sponsorships, partnership, paid mentions.

 Improve your website seo with audits

 And even find backlink opportunities or guest posts.

You can see all workflow templates available before making any purchase by going to the Workflow Library section on their website.

Hexomatic Automations

Let’s take a closer look at the automations.

There two main categories:

 Built-in automations

 Premium automations

As the name suggests, premium automations are the ones that require premium credits to run, which are the credits that you need to buy separately for more advanced and complex tasks.

While the built-in automations are already included in your plan and will use regular automation credits that are already included on your current plan.

There are just too many options here, so let’s just go through some of them:

 You can turn your result into audio (AI audio transcript)

 Extract text from images

 Convert between currencies

 Discover the tech behind a website (CMS)

 Translate text results

 Get seo metrics and tags

Or even use some integrations such as zapier, slack, telegram, and others.

If you want to see more automations, click on the Automations title on the top bar while visiting hexomatic website.

Hexomatic Integrations

Hexomatic has some integration options that you can see by scrolling through the home page:

 Telegram

 Slack

 Google

 Discord

 Pabbly Connect

 Webhooks

 API

 Zapier

 KonnectzIT

 Make

 Integrately

 Microsoft Teams

 Wordpress

 Google Drive

 Google Sheets

If the service or software you want to connect with hexomatic directly you can always use Zapier, Make or Integrally for more complex automations.

Hexomatic Demo

Here are some workflows I have built to use myself or just show some life examples so that you can better understand how they work.

Workflow #1 - Quora Tech Trends

The first one is called Quora Tech Trends and if I open it up, you will see that it only has 2 steps.

First it will scrape Quora questions and links on the technology trends topic as you can see from the URL.

And then it will export the results to a Google Sheet called Quora Tech Trends.

Workflow #2 - Influencers Contact Details

As the name suggests this workflow will find influencer contact details. First it will perform a Google Search and get SERP data for results matching the keyword “hexomatic review”.

Then it will scrap any email addresses it finds on URL search results, using the domain names as a source.

But also scrape emails from related social media profiles or websites that an influencer might use to post content.
