The following sections address the different pressure and flow requirements for a wide variety of environments. Low Pressure

Low pressure wash systems offer several advantages and can be very effective when used in the correct environment.

Systems operating at these pressures are popular in primary food processing units such as pack houses. A well designed system with the correct flow rate can be just as effective as systems with higher pressures.

In environments such as abattoirs, poultry sheds and farm buildings high pressure systems are ideal. The pressure can be combined with chemicals and heat to give a very powerful cleaning effect.

Lower pressure reduces the risks of: • • • • •

These points make a more user friendly system, however due to the lower pressure a higher flow rate is normally required, which can lead to increased heating and running overheads. This is usually offset by lower maintenance costs. To produce good quality foam at pressures below 500 psi / 35 bar requires air injection from an outside source, this need not be a problem as long as compressed air is available.

Unlike low pressure systems, it is possible to create reasonable quality foam without the aid of compressed air by using dynamic lances.

Our design team have developed a range of advanced pump systems with fully modulating return valves, which unlike most systems, do not waste energy by continuing to pump a percentage of the flow back to the tank when demand is increased.

A high pressure system will provide the benefit of multi pressure outlets to ensure you have the flexibility for changing production areas as you add new machinery and vary production methods.

These systems offer the user a choice of pressure and flow so that more delicate areas can be cleaned with confidence thereby making interim cleaning easier.

Centralised multi-pump systems with selectable flow and pressure are worth considering as you can add pumps as your demand increases. You may require a stand-alone diesel or petrol powered unit or perhaps a small single lance electric model. Jets & Nozzles

Jets & Nozzles To order the correct nozzle requires following a number of steps. Firstly you need to know the working pressure (bar), the flow rate (in litres per min) of the pump and the maximum number of people using the system at any one time. EXAMPLE Working pressure = 100bar; Maximum flow = 11 litres per min; Once you have found out all this information, look on the left hand column of the table on the opposite page and go to your working pressure (in this example 100 bar). Follow this column to the right until you come to the nearest litres of water per minute you require (11.3 in this case). Then go to the bottom of this column to confirm the required nozzle size (which in this example returns 05). Thereafter you choose the angle of the nozzle from 0, 15, 25, 40, 65 or 80 and put this in front of the nozzle size you have previously determined: 25 angle+ nozzle size 05 = 2505. Note: This is only a guide to choosing the maximum size of nozzle that will operate on your system. A smaller nozzle may be required to achieve the desired cleaning effect.

MEG Jets Connection: 1/4" M MEG nozzles are fitted with a ¼” Male BSP thread and feature specially hardened stainless steel construction for flow control accuracy as well as a longer life-span.

Jets & Nozzles

Spray Angle: 0° Pencil/needle jets give a direct impact onto the surface with a 93% input efficiency, this makes them perfect for cutting of large amounts of debris. These nozzles should never be used on fragile surfaces or equipment.

Spray Angle: 15° - 65° The most common multi purpose nozzle is 15° and are sold with standard pressure washers. They have approximately a 43% impact efficiency. Wider angle jets are used for greater coverage and lesser impact.

Spray Angle: 80° VVSS jet typically used in spray bars and floor cleaning tools and/or rinsing applications. Can be fitted with filters (see below table for information).

Pulsating Turbo Nozzles One of the most useful nozzles, because it combines the force of the 0-degree nozzle with the spray area of a 25-degree nozzle and adds in a pulsing action by rotating the water jet at 1800 – 3000 rpm. When it hits the surface it creates a round cone shape (it rotates the jet so quick it appears as a hollow cone shape). These nozzles must be used with greater care and attention due to their high impact cutting capability.

Suttner ST164 Foam Injector Designed for the cleaning of vehicles carrying cattle, food, frozen foods and fish in order to avoid bacterial spread. Also suitable for cleaning milking parlours and applicable in cattle breeding, piggeries and poultry farming along with processing units.

Chemical & Foam Application

The foam device is a combination made out of 316 stainless steel and special high performance plastics. The addition of one out of two connected chemicals is determined by positioning the lever. All versions are suitable for the addition in low pressure from approximately 5 bar up to a maximum of 350 bar.

with large cross section areas such as for example ST-2720, ST-2725, ST-3100 or ST-3300 with suitable lances and foam hoses (blufood) is recommended. The injector is especially designed for low and medium pressure applications from a water inlet pressure of 5 bar and it generates an excellent foam when being provided with the required quantity of compressed air. The ST-164 injector is available in the nozzle size of 1.2 - 2.8 mm. The dosing is adjusted by one of the 10 nozzle inserts which are included. The connection for chemicals is equipped with an integrated check valve. Please see page 31 for these items.

When being operated in rinsing function up to 60 l/min pass through the unit without any drop in pressure. In combination with a foam lance (ST-72, ST-74 or ST-75), an adjustable or a triple nozzle the ST-164 injector can suck in chemicals by means of the integrated check valve made out of stainless steel and spray them on or foam them depending on the chosen nozzle. The injector has an optional compressed air connection in order to supply the required air quantity for foaming already in the injector unit. Suttner ST167 Foam Injector The injectors completely made out of stainless steel make it possible to open two cross section areas (50 mm2 each) in order to guarantee a smooth use without drop in pressure when washing/rinsing. This ensures that the injector can be permanently kept in the high pressure line, also at the time when large water quantities are used e.g. in the agriculture or food industry. The cleaning capacity when cleaning and rinsing is not affected at all. A lever makes it possible to change from the cleaning and rinsing mode into injector operation. When using the cleaning mode, there are two bore holes guiding the high pressure water parallel to the injector (bypass mode).

As an alternative there are also versions with the infinitely variable dosing unit ST-161 available. The connection for chemicals equipped with an integrated check valve and an intake for the nozzle inserts has a hose tail for chemical suction hoses being 9 mm in diameter in order to suck in especially viscous fluids.

When using the injector the available water quantity is guided through the injection area. In combination with a foam lance (ST-72, ST-74 oder ST-75), an adjustable or a triple nozzle the easyfoam365+ injector ST-167 can suck in chemicals by means of the integrated check valve made out of stainless steel. It depends on the chosen nozzle whether the chemical can also be sprayed on or foamed. The foaming covers large areas and a long exposure time is guaranteed. One further advantage of the foam cleaning is that already covered surfaces are easily seen. The easyfoam365+ injector which is available in the nozzle size of 1.2 - 2.8 mm meets the requirements in every field of application in the professional cleaning industry.
