Hugh Crane (Cleaning Equipment) Ltd were formed in 1983 to satisfy the demand for high quality industrial cleaning equipment. Over the past four decades the business has invested not only in it’s people but in it’s infrastructure and operates across three purpose built sites throughout East Anglia employing over 70 staff. With a diverse range of customers, the company supplies bespoke equipment to a large number of sectors including food processing, agriculture, military, manufacturing, engineering and the leisure and service industries.

The business is engaged in the design, manufacture, supply and servicing of industrial cleaning machines together with the distribution of a wide range of chemicals and janitorial cleaning equipment. In the mid 80’s the business launched the Commando range of independently powered pressure washers. Designed and built at their fabrication facility at Acle near Norwich they supply a large range of specialist machines for the pig and poultry, industrial and recently waste management sector.

Caskforce, a range of cask and keg washers and fillers are supplied to the brewing industry and was launched in 2010. The range has evolved with over two hundred systems sold in the UK, USA and Europe and Hugh Crane are now one of the leading manufacturers of this equipment in this sector.

With a philosophy of providing the highest quality service within the industry Hugh Crane were the first SME in the country to achieve the BSI ISO 9001 quality standard back in 1995 and currently hold both this and the ISO14001 Environmental Certification.

Prompt and professional service has been the foundation of the business since its inception and this ethos continues today. Whether it’s technical support or advice about the choosing the right product for a particular cleaning application or process, to designing a bespoke engineering solution.

Manufacturing & Engineering

The company’s history of providing bespoke cleaning solutions has led to the development of an extensive production facility and design office where a wide spectrum of engineering solutions are used to solve many cleaning problems across a large number of industries.

The core development focuses on producing sustainable solutions. Our ethos is centred around designing systems that reduce repetitive cleaning tasks and ongoing costs for our customers.

With a growing need for water, energy and labour efficiencies and the increased demand for robotics there is strong demand for a higher level of automation within customers cleaning systems.

The company is meeting the challenge of designing new and innovative systems to replace repetitive manual tasks. It is becoming harder to recruit staff to carry out manual cleaning tasks.

Automation provides a higher standard of cleanliness. Using advanced technologies for customers in many sectors including food manufacturing, waste disposal and the agricultural sector we are overcoming these problems.

COMMANDO® Range

The COMMANDO® product covers a wide range of applications starting with small petrol powered cold water units and electrically powered and diesel engine machines capable of producing up to 700bar working pressure. Where hot water is required models with in built boilers produce water up to temperatures of 95˚C.

Continuous improvement, latest technologies and environmentally friendly diesel engines meeting Euro 6 standards. Electric units powered by mains electric or on-board generators provide an alternative power solutions.

Significant investment ensures continual product development. Complying with international standards we continue to evolve our product range. We are developing battery powered units using the latest battery cell technologies.

The COMMANDO® range is ideal where arduous duty cycles occur, reliability is important and running costs need to be kept to a minimum.

All machines are easy to operate, powerful, efficient, and comply to BS ISO 9001: 2015 accreditation.

Bin Cleaning Equipment

We are major manufacturers of bin cleaning machinery for the UK Waste and Recycling industry. Working alongside local authorities, the NHS and waste contractors we have developed a range of durable, reliable equipment designed for arduous duty cycles. Complying with environmental legislation our machines are designed to recycle water or where appropriate discharge to foul sewer or effluent plants.

Focusing on the need to be as energy, water and labour efficient as possible our systems are automated to reduce labour intensive tasks.

Our range of machines covers trailer based, vehicle mounted, static and continuous flow processing lines. Production commenced in 1995 and we still have machines from this era that our operating on a daily basis.

Machines cater for all types and sizes of domestic and commercial bins up to 1100 litres. Hydraulic bin clamping and lifting with trunnion arms if required.

Models are available in manual or fully automated with options for bin drying and disinfection. Options for electrically powered and petrol and diesel units.

All machines are supplied with instruction manuals and comply with all relevant UK and European legislation.

Cask Force

Designed and built to order we are one of the leading manufacturers of cask and keg washers for the UK brewing industry and the USA.

The demand for a wide spectrum of craft beers has seen a large increase in breweries in recent years. Launched in 2010 the range has evolved and we now manufacturer both cask washers, keg washers and industry unique dual function machines call the K-Series.

The Cask Force machines are a proven, advanced designed saving energy using selectable programmes and recycling the water and conserving heat. Rugged yet simple to operate our automated Cask Force machines accelerate the cleaning process saving time, labour and money. The basic machines clean up to 48 casks per hour.

A wide variation of models are available to suit individual breweries requirements.

Clients who make an investment in our range see dramatic savings in the time taken to thoroughly clean returned casks and kegs making this a very cost effective investment.

Caskforce has been a member of the Society of Independent Brewers since its inception and supports their activities as they promote the British Brewing Industry and British manufacturing.

With over 40 years’ experience in the cleaning equipment industry and a close working relationship with many of the world’s leading equipment manufacturers it allows us to match the right equipment to a specific task, providing efficiency and value for money.

Great emphasis is placed on selecting the right equipment for each customers application. Our expertise covers not only the equipment but the supply of the cleaning consumables to get the best result.

We supply petrol, diesel and electrically powered machines. A major trend towards electrically heated equipment replacing the traditional fuel powered machines as seen with the MAC electric range.

Unlike a large number of online retailers, we continue to offer a full installation service for each machine. All of our equipment is fully tested before dispatch and delivered to site with our own fleet of vehicles. Each client has a one-to-one handover with detailed instructions for the operator on the use of the equipment, to ensure safe and efficient operation.

With our range of specialist vacuums we can provide a solution to meet all your cleaning needs.

Vacuums in this category are designed to deal with hazardous dusts and environments. Class M removes 99.9% of dust including all non-carcinogenic dusts including hardwood dust. Class H is for all health endangering dusts, carcinogenic dust and dust contaminated with germs & bacteria and is used for asbestos removal. Finally for vacuums working in potentially explosive environments including flour mills, bakeries, oil works and anywhere with very fine dust use an Zone 22 ATEX Rated vacuum.

With provide onsite technical advice and expertise in the selection of the correct equipment for each application and industry sector.

We can provide centralised vacuums systems including tooling removing the need for cables and localised equipment.

The hire department continues to evolve. It plays a major role in providing our customers with the ability to efficiently and cost effectively complete cleaning tasks.

With customers’ needs changing, new products and technological advances in the industry, our hire range is constantly updated.

We stock an extensive range of modern machines at our three locations covering East Anglia. These are available to hire on a daily, weekend, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis.

This service assists our customers with one-off jobs and reduces the necessity for large capital investment, for short term infrequent tasks.
