Abstract

This thesis mainly discusses the virtual preservation of the statue of Mazu in the old temple of Xinhui temple in Xinyuan Township. The statue of Mazu ofthe old temple was cremated on November 12, 2009. On April 22, 2009, after the worship of the gods, the sacred clothes of Mazu were removed, I carried out three-dimensional laser scanning of Mazu goddess statue. The scanning process and cultural creative results are published for the first time. The paper first discusses the history of Xinyuanzhuang and Xinhui temple, supplementing some omissions in the history of Xinhui temple, and also about the statues of Taiwanese Mazu goddess. The evolution of the style is also discussed. The temple and the statue are inseparable. The clarification of the history of Xinhui temple and the discussion of the evolution of the style of Mazu statues are helpful to understand the age of the carvings of the statues of Xinyuan Mazu and the interpretation of the style of the statue. The statue of Mazu of the old Xinhui temple follows the style of the mid-Qing Dynasty. It has the characteristics of relatively accurate human body proportions as prevailed during the Japanese occupation. It is fresh and refined, humble, loving and tolerant. It is timeless, profound and modern. It is a rare and rare piece of sculpture art of Mazu statues. This thesis also discusses the procedures for the restoration of the clay statues and the 3D scanning technology in emergency, so that Mazu's body and face are completely preserved with accurate 3D information. Although the Mazu statue has been cremated, the three-dimensional data it retains has the potential to develop subsequent cultural creations, and it still has the infinite energy that inspires people to fulfill their minds.
