Academic Work - Duration: One semester 2016

Since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war, it is estimated that around 13.5 million Syrians are in need of humanitarian assistance within the country. Humanitarian assistance is in absence all over the world. ere is a gap in the market supply regarding emergency, transitional, and long-term durable shelters.

Addressing these issues, we created an upcycling service model that encompasses the process of Reduce, Rebuild, and Upcycle.

Cubicle Micro Home is a modular design solution for long-term durable humanitarian assistance in the colder climate. Each compact living space has a square footage of 64 sq. and would provide necessities for a family of 4 to 5 people. By doing so, we have found a new home for the disposal o ce cubicles and exposed refugees to a new way of living.

Elaborating on the 3 R’s of Environment “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” we designed a service model that addresses these issues by REDUCING the amount of o ce furniture gone to waste and REBUILD a community for refugees by UPCYCLING your redundant o ce cubicles.

Academic Work - Duration: 3 weeks 2016

For our second-year course of architectural modeling, I took on the challenge of studying Rem Koolhaas’s iconic Villa dall’Ava. We had to make models understanding poche, circulation, and site lines.

For the site line model, I was highly intrigued by the geometrical roo op of this house. When standing from afar, the Ei el tower can be easily perceived, and despite simplicity, the complex topography of this house makes it more appreciable.

For this model, the base consisted of pure concrete that organically shaped the base frame of the house when perceived from its complex angle. e three slits of printed acrylic indented into the concrete foundation of the site lines are seen from the roo op. Finally, the acrylic rod scales to the height of the roof with a human gure placed on top as we see his path of vision.

In order to progress, we constantly need to learn and use new skills. We are stagnant as soon as we rely only on our current skills and what we have learned; this is the thinking behind Wildthink O ces.

Wildthink is a young digital advertising company located at 50 Edwin Ave, a former factory in Toronto’s Junction Tringle. Relative to the constant change in the digital world, Wildthink O ces is a space that creates choice and opportunity to timelessly cater to the changing behaviours of the company’s corporate culture, clients and users.

Academic Work - Duration: 3 weeks 2016 create a communal space through zones that provide a sense of belonging. rough prior programming, the visitors were exposed to several workshops and activities that have developed a connection to the place, which enables their connection with others.

During my second-year vertical studio, I challenged myself to utilize my strongest skill, hand drawing, to create my two 24” X 36” presentation panels. I decided to make this decision for this project particularly due to the natural and organic site of the castle that we were working with. I did not believe that this would have been achieved in the best way through 3D digital so ware.

“Raise Café,” situated on the northern portion of the Roccamandol castle, represents a sense of unity. It works between public and private

For our second-year course of architectural modeling, I took on the challenge of studying Rem Koolhaas’s iconic Villa dall’Ava. We had to make models understanding poche, circulation, and site lines.

For the circulation model, I wanted to focus on Rem Koolhaas’s critical explanation of the family’s need for privacy for this house.

A family of three consisting of one daughter and her parents live here. e clients selected OMA to design a house with two distinct apartments—one for themselves and

another for their daughter— and requested a swimming pool on the roof. For my model, I detailed the circulation of the parents in green wires and the circulation of the daughter in pink.

INCONTRO encounter

Map |

Academic Work - Duration: One semester

2018

For my semester study abroad, I was situated in the very small town of Cortona, Italy, where commuting on foot was the main social aid. During this semester, I was particularly interested in analyzing the cultural aspect of the word “community.”

rough design interventions, we celebrated the path “Incontro” by bringing the community together through a collective journey of human interventions, which consists of six public stops starting with the Historical site of Fortezza del Girifalco. ese stops will utilize historical materials that will then be incorporated with innovative

design techniques and technology to spark a revitalization of the surroundings while maintaining Cortona’s rich history.

Each stop o ered a special activity with an identi ed character that correspond to its geographic historical time and celebrates it through its architectural and human encounter. is would by default create unexpected meeting points for both the locals and visitors, which will motivate them to complete the path up to the Fortezza and come back for more.

While exploring di erent aspects of design, I took on the role of a wedding planner and designer for a wedding in 2019. is was by far the most challenging project I have ever been apart of. From designing and cra ing little details such as stationery, to large scale details such as the seating oor plan and furniture arrangements/orders. is wedding helped me analyze and understand the design world through the lens of management and budgeting, all while still accommodating and modernizing the middle eastern cultural aspects expected from both sides of the family.

The Study of Affordances

Academic Work - Duration: One semester 2019

With a ordance, we de ne the physical quality of an object that suggests appropriate actions for a human to manipulate or “hack” - a term taken from American psychologist James Gibson’s study of visual perception. Inspired by my study abroad in Italy, it was interesting to observe the way the locals and tourists interacted with their build environment. One interesting observation that housed a large number of a ordances were the Italian steps (stairs). Both the tourists and locals seemed to utilize the steps in a very similar way - to study, to eat, to socialize, or to rest.

Bringing this back to Toronto, at the Ryerson School of Interior Design - I have taken on the challenge to utilize the steps circulating the building by “hacking it.” ‘ e Table Step’ has been tapered to t the exact measurements of the RSID staircase. It has the a ordance to be used as a study spot, a lunch spot, a social spot, or a stop to simply rest.

A charitable poem found during my trip to Italy is engraved at the front of the table step to give recognition and leave a personal mark on my travel. “ e Table Step” is made out of 3/4” maple hardwood to give its Canadian made mark as well.
