Climate Comms Kit for Local Authorities

The context Many local authorities around the UK have declared a Climate Emergency and are working hard to meet ambitious targets. Latest figures show that 81% of the UK population agree that climate change is a global emergency (UN Development Programme, 2021). The impact of COVID-19 has been profound. During this extraordinary period, many local authority climate communications or engagement activities have had to be scrapped or paused. There’s a need for local authorities to deliver on their climate targets, while also addressing other pressing social and economic needs. Polling conducted by Hubbub revealed how the pandemic has changed the way residents value food, their belongings, their homes, and their

communities. Giving residents the tools they need to live sustainably and cost-effectively has never been more necessary. This ‘Climate Comms Kit’ will help you deliver on your climate targets and inspire your residents to take everyday action, giving you more resources to address other pressing social and economic needs.

Climate Comms Kit We’ve taken our experience of creating lasting behaviour change and combined it with our research on how the pandemic has impacted residents’ lives. This has resulted in the ultimate ‘Climate Comms Kit’. You will receive the communications materials from Hubbub’s award-winning campaigns to engage your residents on everything from how to keep their homes warm in winter to having greener celebrations. The kit will include a year’s-worth of communications assets that can be shared across your social media channels, newsletters and website. Themes will span food, fashion, waste, recycling, energy, growing, travel and more. Bespoke design, workshops and website content are available as part of our silver and bronze kits.

We’ll help you empower your residents to take everyday action to tackle climate change with knowledge and playfulness. The kit’s content can also be re-purposed to engage other audiences, such as businesses. The ‘Climate Comms Kit’ will give your audience the context to understand the climate emergency and the tools to live sustainably, manage financially, connect with others and feel part of their local community.
