To Prospective Buyers, Once again, another year of 4-H has soared by and we are approaching our show and sale. This year we have 15 members in the Rivers 4-H Beef Club. This year it was easier to get together as a club as the covid restrictions lessoned. As a club, we had weigh day, speeches, rally day, highway cleanup and a meeting once a month either in person on via zoom. During the in-person meeting, we did different activities whether that be weighing our steers, judging animals or learning how to read pedigree sheets. Our club has enjoyed being able to be back in person with one another and are thrilled to be having a live show and sale that is open to the public this upcoming summer. Throughout the past few months, every member has continued to work with their project animal(s) in order to be prepared for the show and sale on July 6th. We are having the live show and sale at HTA Charolais just outside of Rivers. Everyone is welcome to come watch both the show and sale at the farm. The 2021-22 4-H year has been a very fun and enjoyable year and was very beneficial to every member. We did another food drive this year that was collected by each member prior to Christmas and then brought to our 4-H Christmas Party and weigh day. I delivered all the collected items to the Rivers Food Bank where families in need could receive food to enjoy over the holidays. Our club believes this is a very important aspect of our club and love that we can help individuals in need. We would like to give a major thank you to our leaders Shawn Airey and Wenda Best. We can not thank you enough for your commitment and support to this club but also to each individual member. Next, we would like to thank the parents for helping us with our projects, sitting in on the meetings and with whatever jobs need to be done. I want to thank my fellow board members: Vice President-Jillian Burt, Secretary-Karas Munz, Treasurer-Austin Peters and the Club Reporters, Chase Airey and Landon Hockley. Next, I would like to recognize Blake Airey, Kinley Peters, Corbin Munz, Maverick Peters, Shayden Manz, Brody Basaraba, Aklen Abey, Tarron Basaraba and Nathan Hillis. I thank you all for the effort and commitment you have shown to the 4-H club. The group of steers we are offering this year allows you to be confident in your purchase. They have been well fed and you can see the amount of effort each one of my fellow members have put in. Please join us for the live sale on July 6th at HTA Charolais (Shawn and Tanya Airey)! Directions can be found closer to the end of the catalog. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at (431)282-3225. Thank you for taking the time to read this! Your truly, Kate-Leigh Heapy—President

Hi, my name is Jill Burt and I’m 17 years old. I am in grade 12 and go to school at River Collegiate. I live on a farm North West of Rivers. My family and I farm grain and cattle, I have a few horses kicking around as well. I typically spend my time helping my dad with the farm, playing sports, and riding my horses. I like doing jackpots with my horse Kitty and also like spending time outside camping and on the lake. After school I plan to attend ACC in the fall to take agribusiness. When I am done post-secondary, I intend to come home and farm as it is something that has always interested me and something I enjoy doing. This year I just have a steer and his name is Sheldon. He is a Charolais/Angus cross.

My name is Kate-Leigh Heapy and I live 3 miles south of Oak River on a dairy and grain farm. I am planning to attend Assiniboine Community College in the fall of 2022 where I will be taking a two-year diploma in Business Administration - Accounting. After I graduate and receive my diploma, I will hopefully transfer over to university to complete the 2+2 program and turn my diploma into a degree. I will then finish my schooling after I get my degree and take the CPA exam to become a Chartered Professional Accountant. A big part of my life that excites me is completing all my long-term goals. I have a long list of goals for my future. I plan to return to the country after passing the CPA exam to work at a local accounting firm. Once I get settled into my job, I have dreamed of taking over our family dairy farm since I was a child and still plan to do so. I have a major passion for our dairy farm and the entire industry and love to be outside with the cows as much as I can. I take pride in the many roles I play on our farm including registering all our calves along with milking the cows every night. I have a huge passion for horses and love to spent time with my two horses; FuFu and Ty. I do love my time on the farm but definitely doing many other things. I love to camp and boat and have taken on a new interest in wake boarding. I love to spend time at the lake with my family and friends. Also, I spend a lot of time playing sports: badminton, softball, volleyball and hockey. Another long-term goal of mine is to get my real estate license. I love houses, whether it be designing, renovating or selling them. I am very passionate about my future and push myself everyday in order to get closer to my goals! The life skills I have learned throughout my years in 4-H have enabled me to be who I am today. The first 4-H experience for me was as a member of an equine club and then I moved onto beef 4-H. My first 4-H speeches were nerve wracking but have provided a huge advantage now as I easily speak and lead with confidence. Proper communication skills are an excellent attribute. I had to work hard to have my projects ready to show at achievement. It taught me to be organized and to manage my time by completing my project on time. 4-H has taught me how to save the money earned from selling my steer to pay for my future post secondary education. Beef 4-H encompasses many different aspects of learning; all of which will benefit my future. The most important part of my 4H years that will help guide me was learning how to be a leader to other members. I have served the past two years as our club president and it has helped me grow as a person. The position has shown me how to effectively run a meeting, create an agenda, communicate with others and how to help the other members. 4-H has been a huge building block in my development. It has created life experiences that I will use throughout my life. It has taught me the importance of hard work and dedication. I will put all the skills I have learned and developed from 4-H to great use as I enter my next chapter: post secondary school! “Learn To Do By Doing!”

THANK YOU! All members, leaders and families would like to thank everyone who supported the show and sale. We would like to throw a huge thank you out to all the bidders and buyers from this year and past years. Please take a minute to look at the previous buyers.
