The goal of the case statement is to engage donors so they will commit resources to transform the UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems into a global agent of change, fully aligned with the University of British Columbia’s stated commitments to sustainability, research, teaching, and community engagement. The case gives the Faculty’s researchers, staff, and students the platform and specific language to announce their place as interdisciplinary learners and leaders in the world-wide movement towards sustainability.
The case also demonstrates the Faculty’s commitment to the needs of people by its ability to sense the energy of emerging sustainability issues and by getting out in front of this wave, rather than falling behind and trying to catch up. Individuals and the community are invited to partner with the Faculty to ignite a transformative process that will build a sustainable future for generations to come.
