WEIGHING IN ON COMMON FOOD PENCHANTS

For the past few years, many people have been combining foods together that nobody would expect. Who would expect pineapples on pizza? It turns out this combination is very common on the west coast and was concocted in Canada according to the British Broadcasting Corporation. BBC also states that a person named Sam Panopoulos created this unique pizza combination in 1962 and sold it at his pizza shop in Ontario. People found this concept interesting, which led to this style of pizza being sold throughout Canada. This combination then got introduced to the United States and Italy and has been popular ever since. In Hamilton Southeastern High School, according to an Instagram poll posted on @ hsenews, 31% of students believe that pineapple should be on pizza and 69% of students believe that pineapples do not belong on pizza. “Pineapple pizza is really good,” said senior Priyanka Paradkar. “It’s the perfect amount of sweet and savory fl avors, but people judge the combination before even trying it.” Another food argument is whether waffl es or pancakes are superior since they have similar batters but very diff erent textures. While pancakes are denser and poured directly onto the pan, waffl es have a special griddle which creates grooves in the batter for a airier and lighter texture. HSE students had almost a split number of votes for waffl es and pancakes on the Instagram poll. 56% preferred waffl es, while 44% thought pancakes are better. When asking for a reasoning to why waffl es were better, senior Anika Knopfmeier said “Waffl es are more versatile, and you can add any toppings on it, whether it is chicken or chocolate. They are also crispy on the outside and soft on the inside”. Contrary to Anika’s opinion, English teacher Mr. Zerbe says that “pancakes are just better. Only nerds like waffl es”. Now, the next food quarrel is different since it involves the way we eat cereal. Do you pour the milk fi rst or cereal fi rst? In fact, the New York Post says that recently many have started the #cerealchallenge on TikTok which is where people eat cereal out of other people’s mouths. Though this may not be the most hygienic trend, it brought forth the issue of whether cereal or milk should be poured fi rst. Senior Ella Penny says that “it is clear that cereal should be poured fi rst”. HSE students also agreed with this statement, as the votes came out to be 89% favoring pouring the cereal fi rst and 11% of chose to pour the milk fi rst. Our fi nal food opinion involves fast

food. Many students love Chick-Fil-A, but there seems to be a new competitor coming in since Raising Canes will be arriving at Hamilton Town Canter in December 2022. Chick-Fil-A and Raising Canes are known for their fried chicken and their specialty sauces that come with meals. The Insider News Channel explains that while ChickFil-A serves a sauce that contains mostly barbeque, ranch, and honey mustard, Raising Canes serves a sauce that contains mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and their seasoning. Now the real question is which one is better, Chick-fi l-A or Raising Canes? This was an astonishing win for Chick-Fil-A in the HSE student responses since the Instagram poll had 74% votes for Chick-Fil-A and 26% votes for Raising Canes. Senior Terryn Green states that these results are most likely because “more students have tried Chick-Fil-A before, while Raising Canes has yet to come at Noblesville”. Whether you like waffl es, pancakes, or Chick-Fil-A, most can agree that food opinions are exciting. Not only do you taste a diff erent perspective, but you can also engage in fun conversations with your peers. Story

THE FALL OF THE POWER COUPLE

WHAT HAPPENED TO PETE DAVIDSON AND KIM KARDASHIAN?

October 2021 sparked the beginning of this Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian love saga with an SNL skit that saw them kissing by the end. This seemed to tear the media in half as Kim was going through a rocky divorce with rapper Kanye West. This had a bad eff ect on Kim as it made her out to be a back stabber in the eyes of the media. Things started to escalate as the couple was being seen more publicly and not afraid to show each other off . Though things took a turn when West dropped a diss-track on Davidson called Eazy, which garnered to slamming Davidson and giving him a bad reputation among the people. Davidson didn’t take to this lightly so in March, 2 months after the song dropped, he decided to get Kim’s name branded onto him to show how truly dedicated he was to her. When all the drama died down and June came around, as the premiere of the new season of Keeping up with the Kardashian’s, people were all excited to see Davidson make an appearance, which he did to promote his new movie coming out. Finally in August, the couple was seen at the Met Gala with Kim causing controversy with her Marilyn Monroe dress and being there with Davidson. It eventually all came to an end later that month with the couple splitting away and Davidson having to end up in a Mental Hospital. This relationship is one of the biggest drama fi lled one in years.
