Need helping doing your taxes? If your annual household income is $56,000 or less, SparkPoint Fremont can do your taxes for free through our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. We run one of the largest free tax sites in the Bay Area and have been offering quality services since 2002. Census 2020 Begins March 12th The Census gives us data about our community and provides the distribution of billions of dollars in federal funding for important services such as healthcare, education, and safety. The Census also determines how many decision makers represent us in Congress.
The City of Fremont wants to ensure that all members of its diverse community are represented and counted. The City will host a Questionnaire Assistance Center (QAC) at the FRC starting March 12 in order to have a place where residents can receive help regarding all things Census. QAC hours will be Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4—8pm, and Fridays from 10am—1.30pm through April 15. For hours after April 15, please see fremont.gov/Census2020. The City is currently recruiting volunteers to staff the QAC center. Volunteers will be trained on Census information and to assist clients in completing the Census form. Same-day, urgent, drop-in psychiatric medication evaluations for Medi-Cal and uninsured consumers age 18 and up are now available at the FRC through the Alameda County Behavioral Health Care/ Tri-City Community Support Center in Suite G710, Monday—Friday from 12.30—5.00pm. Individuals can be referred by ACCESS or a crisis service provider but it is not required. People can arrive on their own or with a provider or support person. Individuals can also call ahead to schedule an appointment. Bring any full or empty pill bottles, discharge summary from any recent hospitalization, and the phone number of the last provider/pharmacy used. If you need urgent medication support that cannot be met by your provider, you will receive a brief assessment by our nurse and see the tele psychiatrist via video conferencing. Behavioral Health Vocational Services
Vocational Services of Alameda County’s Behavioral Health Care assists individuals with mental health barriers to acquire competitive jobs and go to school to boost their income. There are three programs that help to achieve these goals: 1) the County Operated Vocational Program imbedded in fifteen different teams; 2) the CalWORKs Mental Health Program, where employment services are joined with mental health support; and 3) a Technical and Training team that assists 25 programs in nine different agencies to incorporate the evidence-based practice, Individiual Placement and Support (IPS) — Supported Employment. This is the model used to achieve the most employment outcomes for all the referenced services. IPS focuses on assisting the client to get into the workforce immediately as a treatment strategy. Embracing this strategy has increased job placement as much as 50% for those served. Do you sometimes need childcare for just a few hours? Or need a backup when your regular provider is out sick? The FRC operates a drop-in, hourly childcare service for well children and it’s open to the public. At Discovery Cove, kids can participate in engaging activities with caring adults for up to 12 hours a week. Call for reservations. ACCESS provides information, screening and referrals for Alameda County residents who need mental health and/or drug and alcohol treatment. ACCESS is answered by County licensed mental health clinicians Monday-Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm. After hours calls are returned by Alameda County Crisis Support Services. The telephone menu is in six languages: English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, and Cambodian. ACCESS uses a telephone interpretation service for additional languages and California Relay for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. An Alameda County Behavioral Health program.
