FREMONT CARES STORIES: HOMELESS AWARENESS MONTH For years Mark lived at the Ardenwood encampment, supported by a committed care team from several agencies that helped him stay connected to health services and housing resources. When Natalie’s Place opened, his team quickly came together to secure him a room with onsite care, accessibility features, meals, and safety ambassadors. Initially unsure, Mark asked questions and advocated for himself before choosing to move in. In late August he matched with an apartment and because his documents were up to date with the help of his care team, Mark moved into permanent housing. Mark’s story demonstrates how determination and steady community support can lead to life changing stability.
