The Age Well Centers has over 1,000 active members and has hosted over 350 adults 55+ for classes in 2021— 2022. Most classes are back on site and some remain online. The 55+ population is very resilient and willing to learn new ways to enjoy class offerings. In the coming year The Age Well Centers will continue to use community connections to offer services and programming. Everyone is encouraged to attend at least one program at the Age Well Centers in the next year. You’ll be so glad you did!
This month we celebrate community connections for National Senior Center month. The Age Well Centers work with community partners to provide access to health, social engagement, purpose, creativity, mobility and nutrition—all in a fun environment. We celebrate the Age Well Centers and continue to spread the word about programs that benefit the 55+ community. The Age Well Centers partner with many wonderful agencies to provide quality services and programs for the community. Bay Area Community Health provides blood pressure checks, blood sugar, A1C testing, vision screening and foot care services at the Age Well Centers. Legal Assistance for Seniors/ HICAP of Alameda County provides valuable updated information during the annual medicare open enrollment period. AARP offers free tax services each year for our adults 55+. AARP also offers mature driving courses to promote safe driving. Community connections and partnerships are part of the foundation of the Age Well Centers and it’s ability to provide services!

The City of Fremont does not discriminate on the basis of disability. If you need an accommodation please contact the Human Services Department at 510.574.2050 Did you know? Nine out of ten people who have died from COVID in the United States have been 50 or older and three out of four have been 65 or older. This Summer/Fall, it is more important than ever to encourage people in your community and loved ones who are 50 years and older to get a COVID booster. Boosters help reduce the risk of the worst outcomes of COVID. Go to https://bit.ly/3TdKvVd to watch a short 17 second video on getting the facts about boosters for people 50 and older. If you’re 50 or older and it’s been 4 months since your booster, it’s time for your second. Find vaccines and boosters near you at www.vaccines.gov Would you like to see classes that cater to adults 55+ in North Fremont? Human Services in partnership with Recreation and Community Services will be offering a few classes between 9am and 5pm during the week. If you live in North Fremont and want to teach a class, have a class suggestion or referral please call 510.790.6602 or email Program Coordinator Nick Jordan at njordan@fremont.gov Stay tuned for more details!
