Age Well Center at South Fremont
The event has been celebrated annually since 1985 when President Ronald Reagan signed the Senior Center Week Presidential Proclamation. In 2007, the National Institute on Senior Centers (NISC) extended the celebration to the entire month. Senior Centers are celebrated for their innovative programs and the incredible work they do enriching the lives of older adults. They promote health and wellness and create a space to forge meaningful relationships. The City of Fremont recognizes the importance of senior centers in our community and are thrilled to welcome you to the new Age Well Center at South Fremont. We look forward to seeing the Center bustling with activities, programming, love and energy in the coming months and years! The new Age Well Center at South Fremont will open serving adults 55+ September 15th. Stop by between the hours of 8am and 1pm Monday—Thursday and 8am to noon on Fridays. We envision the new Age Well Center in South Fremont as a welcoming place of inclusivity and fun, but also a place that gives dignity to aging lives. Our Center will be a vibrant, action-packed combination of local wellness center, a volunteering headquarters, a place of civic engagement, a transportation hub, an exchange of learning and new ideas, a center for service information and coordination and a tasty dining locale. It will be a place to build new friendships and nurture old ones. It will also be a place for the larger community to see how older adults in Fremont are working to reframe the aging process. We hope to continue to create contemporary images of aging, and new stories that can help older adults envision alternative futures for themselves when they retire or as they age in place, as valued and skilled older members of society. We will strive to be innovative, adaptable, and flexible and create an environment where differences are seen as a source of strength. •
We foresee a place that celebrates diversity of all kinds, including the broadest definitions of identities, abilities, experiences, economics, histories, and opinions.

Aisha Jasper Senior Center Manager Aisha brings 23 years of experience working with adults 55+ as a graduate of CSUEB with a degree in Human Development and an option in Gerontology. She has worked as the Manager of the AWC at Lake Elizabeth for over 5 years and looks forward to working at the AWC at South Fremont.
Martha Torrez, MSW Program Coordinator Martha brings over 22 years of experience providing services to older adults, youth, and individuals with developmental disabilities. She has experience in organizing events, along with creating an environment of enthusiasm and participation. She enjoys hiking, taking long walks on the beach, and dining at local restaurants.

Mei Yuan Office Specialist Mei is currently finishing her degree in Human Resources at CSUEB. She has over 18 years of office and customer service experience that she brings to the team. Mei is fluent in Mandarin and is looking forward to meeting and talking to the Center users. Besides people, Mei loves animals.

Right now is the best time to become a member of the Age Well Centers, where membership is good at both the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth and the Age Well Center at South Fremont. Membership is normally due every 12 months, but until the end of 2021 membership is good for 18 months as a pandemic special! Membership is $35 for residents and $45 for nonresidents. Membership provides savings on meals and programming and most of all supports a center that provides so much to adults 55+. Joining is quick and easy! A critical component of our programs is the support provided by volunteers. Volunteers can be instructors, office and kitchen staff, a community ambassador for seniors, and much more.
