At our core, it is human nature to want to help others and make a positive difference in the world. Many of us choose to give back to our communities through volunteerism, sharing a particular skill, being neighborly, or through planned giving.

Planned giving through your estate, trust, or will is one of the easiest ways to create a lasting legacy in your name, while making a profound difference in your community for years. You can choose to support the organizations that make a difference in your life or that of your loved ones.

Maybe you regularly enjoyed an affordable meal at one of our Age Well Centers and want to ensure vulnerable community members have the opportunity to do the same. Or, maybe a case manager helped you navigate an aging parent’s health crisis and you want to ensure others can benefit from the program too. Planned giving is easy to do and you don’t have to be wealthy to consider making a gift. Donations add up and help sustain the services they provide for the benefit of future generations.

For more information on how you can support Aging and Family Services programs or the Age Well Centers, please contact Paula Manczuk-Hannay at 510-574-2049 or email at pmanczuk-hannay@fremont.gov or AWC Managers Monica Gloria at 510-790-6606 or email at mgloria@fremont.gov or Aisha Jasper at 510-742-7529 or email at ajasper@fremont.gov

FAREWELL JOEY TCHANG INDIAN INDEPENDENCE

This past June marked the end of an era for the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth. Beloved Tai Chi for Arthritis instructor, Joey Tchang, taught his final class. Joey was an instructor for the AWC at Lake Elizabeth for more than eight years. He provided the 55+ TriCity area with a valuable Tai Chi class that focused on helping those with arthritis. His kind and friendly energy will be missed at the AWC at Lake Elizabeth Thank you Joey for making a difference in the lives of so many adults 55+!

ALAMEDA COUNTY WATER DISTRICT – RESOURCES TO HELP SAVE WATER

August 15th is Indian Independence Day. Indian Americans celebrate both July 4th and August 15th with equal excitement and pride and believe in the importance of belonging to both communities. Indian Independence celebrations are spread over a week, around August 15th. Indian community organizations hold Fairs, conduct Health Screenings, and have a parade with floats depicting the diverse culture of the Indian community and showing the cultural idea of “Vasudeiva Kutumbakam,” which means “The World is One Family.” This year’s fair will be the weekend of 8/19—8/20.
