AUGUST 2020
AN AGE-FRIENDLY CITY IS A LIVABLE CITY THE FREMONT SENIOR CENTER IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to COVID-19 and the Shelter In Place Order issued by the Alameda County Public Health Department. However, a number of services are still available including online FCS classes, trainings and meals! (See pages inside for details.)
Health experts have long extolled the benefits of spending time outside. Opportunities for healthy, active living include access to walking paths, walkable neighborhoods, organized activities, and ways to stay connected for long-term social health. The City of Fremont is creating a new Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and community input is being sought to help guide the development of parks and recreation in Fremont for the next 15 years. We believe that being age-friendly makes our city a better place for everyone to work, play and live. By 2034, 33% of the population will be 55 and over. The City wants to hear from residents of all ages about how they like to spend time outside, at our senior and community centers, how they would like to recreate and gather as a community in the future, and what they would like to see in their parks. One upcoming project in Central Park will feature adult exercise equipment for all ages. What else would you like to see in Fremont parks? How can we create recreational and intergenerational programs that meet your goals for lifelong learning? Attend a virtual public input meeting and share your thoughts. Each meeting will cover the same material but offer a variety of times to attend. Meetings attended virtually via computer or smartphone will offer live polling, Q&A, and commenting, or a dial-in option is available to listen in. Please consider registering for one of the upcoming meeting dates: • SATURDAY AUGUST 8th 10—11am
• WEDNESDAY AUGUST 12th 10—11am
