The City of Fremont provides compassionate peer counseling support to depressed, isolated, lonely, and/or grieving older adults in the Tri-City area. The goal of the program is to increase emotional well-being and satisfaction with life. Especially through the pandemic, the peer counselors have stepped up to support the community. The Senior Peer Counseling program has been effectively connecting trained peer counselors to older adults needing emotional support for over 28 years. The peers are at least 50 years old themselves, living in the Tri-City area, come from all walks of life and are as diverse as the seniors they serve. They are highly trained in providing emotional support and themselves receive weekly support and education, from a mental health professional. Senior peer counselors provide safe, non-judgmental, emotional support to the older adults they are matched with, to explore topics that include changes in health, employment, family conflicts or other concerns. You can contact the Senior Infoline 510.574.2041, if you would like to be matched with a peer counselor today! They are looking to support you.
