Greater Niles Villagers believe a better experience of aging is possible when we can grow with and rely on each other. A non-profit, all volunteer, member-driven organization formed in 2016, GNV is dedicated to positively impacting health and interdependence by assisting Villagers to form social networks and secure practical assistance to age successfully. “During Volunteer Appreciation Week, and every day, we salute our volunteers, the essence of a Village. Members share their skills and support to navigate the challenges and opportunities of aging. Adult children of Villagers find resources to enhance daily life for aging parent(s) and assist caregivers. Community volunteers contribute time and expertise towards a space for learning, laughter and courage,” stated Board of Directors Chair Kathy Steel-Sabo. “It is intentional community building, neighbors helping neighbors to forge stronger connections, reduce isolation, increase independence and enhance purpose of life. Greater Niles Village is Aging. Better.” Now 20 years old, the Village Movement has grown into a thriving network of more than 300 Villages across the US; a model now established as a cost-effective, sustainable solution for healthy aging. In Villages, older adults are empowered to remain in charge of their lives. For more information contact www.GreaterNilesVillage.org or info@GreaterNilesVillage.org 510.936.0214
