GETTING INVOLVED

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT com.mu.ni.ty en.gage.ment (noun) a dynamic, relational process that facilitates communication, interaction, involvement and exchange between groups and individuals to promote the quality of life in a community. A City that promotes community engagement is a great place live! We are fortunate to have so many individuals and groups that share a vision of how our city can be ‘age-friendly’ and who are motivated to give freely of their knowledge and skills. National Volunteer Week is April 7—13, so we want to dedicate this issue to all the people in our community who are committed to community engagement. We are better off because we have: • Volunteers at our Senior Center who provide assistance in the office or help cook lunch. • Senior Peer Counselors who meet with people in their home. • Community Ambassadors who help guide people to resources. • Residents in Niles who are starting the first Fremont Village. • LIFE ElderCare volunteers who help deliver Meals on Wheels or provide Friendly Visits. • All the people who step up and help their neighbor. Thank you to everyone! Our world is better as a result of all you do!
