IMPROVE YOUR MOOD
SHARING IS CARING (AND GOOD FOR YOU!) IT IS PROVEN THAT VOLUNTEERING MAKES YOU FEEL HEALTHIER, improves your mood, and lowers your stress level. 96 percent of volunteers report that volunteering enriched their sense of purpose in life. In our last older adult survey, 33% of Fremont residents over the age of 75 years said they volunteer. We live in a very generous community. Here are some ideas about how you can get involved: Volunteer at the Age-Friendly Health Expo on May 12 — contact KJ Ignacio at KJ.FremontHealthExpo@gmail.com The Fremont Senior Center appreciates volunteers who can assist visitors and members — contact Nick Jordan at NJordan@fremont.gov or leave a message at 510.790.6602. Other volunteer opportunities can be found on volunteermatch.org. Just enter zip code or type in ‘Fremont’ in the keyword search. Please see the article on page 2 about how to become an Ombudsman Volunteer. Ombudsmen receive extensive training to provide the invaluable service of visiting residents of nursing facilities.
