THE FREMONT SENIOR CENTER IS NOW THE AGE WELL CENTER AT LAKE ELIZABETH — offering online classes, services, trainings and curbside to go meals! OUR BUILDING IS CURRENTLY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to COVID-19 and the Shelter In Place Order issued by the Alameda County Public Health Department.
After a full year of living through the pandemic, hope is on the horizon with the rollout of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. Vaccine distribution is currently ramping up with seniors 65 and older now eligible to receive vaccines. As you prepare yourself for getting the vaccine, here is some important information to keep in mind: •
Currently available vaccines require 2 doses, given 3-4 weeks apart.

After you receive your vaccine, you’ll be observed for 15—30 minutes to make sure you don’t have a reaction to the vaccine.
•
The vaccine’s protection will reach its full effectiveness 1—2 weeks after the 2nd dose.
•
The vaccine will not give you COVID–19 nor will it cause a positive result on a COVID–19 test.
•
Some people may experience side effects from the vaccine; these typically last a day or two and may include fatigue, headache, muscle aches, injection site soreness, and mild fever.
•
The vaccine will protect people from getting ill but everyone will still need to wear masks, maintain physical distance in social interactions and wash hands regularly as it may still be possible to carry the virus and spread it to others.
