The National Institute on Aging states that participating in arts activities may be linked to improving cognitive function and memory, while improving one’s self-esteem and well-being. Now is the time to join a music class, join a theater production, dance your socks off, or participate in a creative writing workshop.
Twelve Senior Centers in San Francisco studied 400 older adults who participated in a weekly choir program and found reduced feelings of loneliness and increased interest in life.
Peruse the Age Well Center’s Class Schedule inside on pages 3,4,7 and 8, for opportunities to explore the arts lover in you! The AWC’s offer ballroom line dancing, ukulele jam groups, an Ikebana flower arranging class, and creative writing — just to name a few! Do you have a creative talent to share? If so, please stop by or call today to become an instructor.
Speaking of the arts, the Olive Hyde Art Gallery is currently featuring art by Dotti Cichon through March 18th, 2023. Her unique, thought provoking artwork, has been exhibited throughout North America and regions in Europe. It elicits thinking about environmental issues of global importance and touches the human psyche.
Take the time to visit the Olive Hyde Art Gallery, located at 123 Washington Blvd in Fremont Thursday—Sunday for free, from noon to 5p.m.
