Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth
Age Well Center at South Fremont
CELEBRATE AND SUPPORT 15TH ANNUAL CRAB FEED IN FEBRUARY!
The Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth needs your support and participation at the 15th Annual Crab Feed. This is a hybrid event consisting of a drive-thru pick up and an in-person dinner. This is our only major fundraiser of the year! Funds raised from this event support the Age Well Center’s delicious and affordable meal program. Both the drive-thru Crab Feed and the dine-in Crab Feed will take place at the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth located at 40086 Paseo Padre Pkwy on Friday February 18th. For those who enjoyed eating the crab at home last year and/or dining with close friends and family, the drivethru meal pick-up time will be from 12pm to 1.30pm. A limited amount of in-person crab dinners will be sold, limited to 6 per household, beginning Monday, January 3rd. Dinner will be served at 4.15pm and doors will open at 3.30pm. *Due to COVID-19 all events are subject to change. Your meal will consist of 1 ½ pounds of succulent crab, pasta, salad, garlic bread and dessert. Each crab dinner is $75. To purchase your dinner or to sponsor the event, simply go to: http://bit.ly/AgeWellClasses today! You may also stop by between 8am and 1pm M–F, call 510.790.6600 or email agewellcenters@fremont.gov (credit cards only).
If you believe in what the Age Well Center has been doing for the past 41 years and wish to receive additional help becoming a sponsor of this popular community event, please call Aisha Jasper at 510.742.7529 or email ajasper@fremont.gov for the further details. Sponsorship opportunities range from $175 to $5000 and are gratefully accepted. We hope to see you in your cars with your mask on or dining with us inside the Center! (For those using our drive-thru service, your food will be placed in your trunk with care and gratitude.)

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of “hunkering down”. As 2022 unfolds, I’m gratefully counting my blessings, renewing my spirit of optimism and hopefulness and working on making strangers into friends, and friends into family. Some might call that resilience! While the recent pandemic has created countless challenges with daily life, and many adults are experiencing emotional and mental exhaustion, including anxiety, depression and stress; it may come as a surprise that studies show older adults seem to be coping better than the general population. Older adults are one of the most resilient population groups because they
have had a lifetime overcoming difficult situations. “Building resilience is a process not a personality trait” and it can become a practice that keeps you grounded and calm. Resilience is not just the ability to survive difficult experiences, but the ability to adapt, and cope with circumstances in a way that enables you to emerge stronger, to thrive and to grow from lessons learned. What better place to build resilience than at one of Fremont’s Age Well Centers? Our Age Well Centers offer the opportunity to make healthy connections with others, a chance to start a physical exercise routine and to find classes that offer opportunities for learning and growth. Activities at our Age Well Centers also offer a chance to not only focus on your own well-being or ask for help, if you need it, but also provide opportunities to volunteer and help others. All of these things are resilience builders. Come join us… stronger together in 2022!
