THE FREMONT SENIOR CENTER IS NOW THE AGE WELL CENTER AT LAKE ELIZABETH — offering online classes, services, trainings and curbside to go meals! OUR BUILDING IS CURRENTLY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE due to COVID-19 and the Shelter In Place Order issued by the Alameda County Public Health Department.

CELEBRATE AND SUPPORT

The Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth (formerly the Fremont Senior Center) needs your support and participation at the 14th Annual Crab Feed: Safe Home Edition —our only major fundraiser of the year! Funds raised from this event support the Age Well Center’s Lake Side Café, where delicious affordable meals are cooked by culinary trained Chefs David and Luis.

Since January of 2020, the kitchen has made 24,437 meals for seniors and our unsheltered neighbors. This year, we encourage you to dine with your social bubble by enjoying crab in the safety and comfort of your home while you support a great center. Pick up your dinner on Friday February 19th at 1pm or 3.30pm at the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth located at 40086 Paseo Padre Pkwy. Your meal will consist of succulent crab, pasta, salad, garlic bread and dessert. Each crab dinner is $60 each or you may purchase a 4 pack of dinners to enjoy with your “bubble” or larger household for $240.

Hot and Frozen Meal’s must be ordered in advance by Monday at 3pm for that Thursday. Orders are for one week at a time only.

AARP TAXES

It’s almost tax time again! AARP Tax-Aide will be here to serve seniors living in Fremont, Union City and Newark with their tax preparation and E-filing services for tax year 2020. As a result of the pandemic, services will be modified to protect everyone—with social distancing, wearing of masks, and complying with state and county COVID-19 restrictions. As such, there will be no person-toperson service. All tax returns will be prepared and reviewed virtually by AARP volunteers; therefore, it may take up to 7 days to complete and E-file a return.

Beginning January 18, 2021, you can call AARP Tax Aide @ 408.475.3905 and leave a message with your name, phone number and AARP site you used in previous years. A tax-aide volunteer will return your call to explain the process. (Note: This service may be impacted or cancelled with minimum notice by city and/or county officials based on COVID severity.)

SUPPORT GROUPS

Chronic Pain Support Group Online 3rd Thursday each month on Zoom 1/21 12.30—2.30pm ACPA Redwood City is a free chronic pain support group for the Bay Area, that receives non-financial support from the Stanford Pain Management Clinic and the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth. Grief and Loss Support Group Online facilitated by Crisis Support Services of Alameda County Tuesdays 4.30—5.30pm Begins January 26 Everyone experiences grief differently.

This grief support group provides space for individuals experiencing loss to be with their feelings. If you are interested in joining, please contact our referral line at 1.800.260.0094 or jwolfinger@crisissupport.org by Friday, January 15.

Life Review Group Online facilitated by Crisis Support Services of Alameda County Thursdays 10.30—11.30am Begins January 14 In this 8 week group we will explore the story of your life, with its ups and downs, triumphs and set backs. This story is your story, and only you can tell it. Expect mindfulness tools, lots of group interaction, and creative expression. Bay Area Community Health (formerly Tri-City Health Center) Bay Area Community Health will be at the Age Well Center at Lake Elizabeth in the outdoor patio providing health services. Below you will find the health service, the date and time. When you come to your appointment face masks are required and please remember to maintain 6 feet of distance from other people.

Stay in your vehicle and the bag of groceries will be placed in your trunk only. Groceries may be handed out early to prevent traffic back up. First come, first 130 served.
