Staff Spotlight.... Mr Whiting
Mr Whiting is a Teacher of Science and Head of Year 9.

"I am the homegrown Science teacher. My aim is to make science engaging and fun to all of my students , which often involves explosions, smells , dissections and a lot of anti-climatic moments.
As Head of Year , I try to motivate my year into being aspirational and achieving their dreams. I always have their backs and occasionally a difficult conversation with them"
Where did you grow up? I grew up about a quarter of a mile from Huxlow on Scarborough Street The Rec was my stomping ground, where I would try to play football , impress all my mates (not with football) and avoid going home when the street lights came on. I went to Huxlow when it was my time. Huxlow was awesome , football on the courts before school , chicken burgers from the canteen and the lessons obviously! (I like learning!)
What did you want to be when you were younger? I didn't really have any set dream jobs, a lot of my friends went to the army or got a trade. The army was appealing, travelling the world etc. I ended up doing BTEC Sports and going to university in Liverpool, with the hope of being a strength and conditioning coach for a sports team Who would play you in a movie? I am a sucker for a good romcom , what's not to like? Laughing while feeling content inside , any film with Kevin Hart is a winner. Who is your biggest role model? My biggest role model was my Pops He had that " can do" attitude and made a succe of his life through hard work He was also fiercely family orien I always respected that.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Florida beaches , theme parks and great weather! Which food is your guilty pleasure? All food Meat = gains a anything sweet to guilt me into working out again. Last book you read? I like reading but don't get time due to work , family and kids

What piece of advice would you give to 15 year old Mr Whiting? Invest in Tesla and Facebook. Try everything. Do what you enjoy. Don't ask questions. Jump in and deal with the consequences later!
