Sljedeće Igre otoka održat će se na Siciliji u svibnju 2011. godine, a 2014. domaćin bi trebala biti Korčula.
U odborima EOC-a šest Hrvata Europski olimpijski odbori u Danira Nakić Bilić svibnju ove godine imenovali su nove članove svojih tijela s mandatom do 2013. Osim što je predsjednik HOO-a Zlatko Mateša, ujedno i član izvršnog odbora EOC-a, od siječnja ove godine reimenovan na još jedan mandat u Odboru za pripremu Olimpijskih igara, u sastavu odbora do 2013. još su i bivša vrhunska košarkašica i olimpijka Danira Nakić Bilić (Odbor za olimpijsku kulturu i obrazovanje), glavni tajnik HOO-a Josip Čop (Odbor za mlade i šport za sve), suradnica za marketing HOO-a Manuela Sentđerđi (Odbor za marketing i komunikaciju), a u kojoj je kao predstavnik športaša još otprije i naš vrhunski športaš, plivač i olimpijac Gordan Kožulj. Liječnica i članica zdravstvene komisije HOO-a Vlasta Brozičević imenovana je u medicinski i protudopinški odbor.
HFPO i Poreč spremni za fair play Kongres 2011. Grad Poreč, član marketinške Hrvatske olimpijske obitelji i Hrvatski fair play odbor (HFPO) spremni su za organizaciju 17. Europskog fair play kongresa i 17. Opće skupštine kojima je Hrvatska domaćin 2011. - ocjena je glavnog tajnika Europskog fair play pokreta Yannisa Psilopoulosa, člana izvršnog odbora EFPM Miroslava Cerara te članice Vijeća Slovenskog olimpijskog odbora Sonje Poljšak, koji su u travnju ove godine (9.-11.) posjetili Zagreb i Poreč na poziv Hrvatskog fair play odbora i Hrvatskog olimpijskog odbora (HOO). Vodstvo EFPM-a koje se je sastalo s dopredsjednicom HOO-a i članicom HFPO-a Nadom Senčar, glavnim tajnikom HOO-a Josipom Čopom, članicom Vijeća HOO-a i HFPO-a Moranom Paliković Gruden, članicom i koordinatoricom HFPO-a Biserkom Vrbek te članom Jurom Ozmecom, uvjereni su da će skupovi Europskog fair play pokreta u Poreču, gradu športa i partneru HOO-a, biti izvanredna prilika potvrde promocije u zaštiti i unapređenju vrijednosti športa i olimpizma. Tema koju Hrvatski fair play odbor predlaže IO EFPM je - "Fair play kao dio športske kulture“. Čelnike ovih institucija srdačno su ugostili i dogradonačelnica Poreča Nadia Štifanić-Dobrilović, te predsjednik športske zajednice Poreča Milan Markežić sa suradnicima.
HOO i HL: Uručeni čekovi za športske škole Nogometni klub „Rovišće“ iz Rovišća pokraj Bjelovara i Nogometna škola „Astarea“ iz mjesta Mlini u općini Župa Dubrovačka - dva su od ukupno devet korisnika sredstva instant lutrije „Jurilica“ iz zajedničČek za nogometnu školu "Astarea" kog projekta „HOO I HL za športske škole“ potpisan u rujnu 2009. godine u ukupnoj vrijednosti 360 tisuća kuna. Ček u Rovišću uručili su 17. svibnja pomoćnik predsjednice Uprave HL-a Tomislav Svetina i glavni tajnik HOO-a Josip Čop, nogometašici Josipi Prskalo, jedinoj djevojčici među dječacima u klubu, a u Srebrnom 2. lipnja ček je za NK Astarea primio mladi nogometaš Bruno Lonza od direktorice Ureda za podršku HL-a Arete Čuturaš i pomoćnice glavnog tajnika HOO-a za programe lokalnog sporta Alme Papić.
Sorrow over the Polish friend “We were deeply shaken by the tragic death of the President of the Polish Olympic Committee and a true friend of Croatian sports, Piotr Nurowski, who was killed on April 10 in the plane crash that also killed many major Polish political figures near the Russian city of Smolensk. His death is a great loss not only to Polish athletes but also to the international Olympic movement. Piotr Nurowski was also a true friend of the COC. As a member of the Executive Board of the European Olympic Committees, he was a persistent supporter of the idea for the European Sports Games. We mourn together with the Polish sports public and the Polish Olympic Committee, to whom we express our deepest condolences.” This was the message that was delivered to the Polish public by Zlatko Mateša and Josip Čop of the Croatian Olympic Committee.
COC signs agreements with 154 athletes On April 20, the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) organized an event at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Zagreb, where agreements for the allocation of COC funds in 2010 were signed with 154 young athletes (out of a total 319). They will use funds from four development programmes in 36 sports. The event was held in the presence of many distinguished people from Croatian sports and media representatives. “By providing this assistance, the COC is aiming to ensure systematic support of athletes that will allow them to perform at major sporting competitions, and, the ultimate goal, at the Olympic Games. Our intention is to actively participate in their development into top athletes and to prevent a phenomenon when great junior athletes must leave their activities for variety of reasons even before they have entered senior competitions,” said Josip Čop, the Secretary General of COC, who explained the rules of the COC’s development programs to both the athletes and their professional teams. These programs include full professional, technical, health and material support to individual athletes. COC supports Rijeka’s bid to host the 2017 Mediterranean Games At its meeting on May 6, the Assembly of the Croatian Olympic Committee unanimously supported Rijeka’s bid to host XVIII Mediterranean Games in 2017. This is a prerequisite for final approval by the Government of Croatia to be sent to the International Committee for the Mediterranean Games (ICMG). The council of COC earlier stated its support to Rijeka at its regular meeting on March 25, 2010. Rijeka is bidding to host the 2017 Mediterranean Games. It is fully prepared for this major regional athletic event, both in terms of organization and sports. Rijeka has applied to host this event four times previously. The first time it was in 1994 for the 2001 Mediterranean Games, which were hosted by Tunis; the second time was in 1998 for the 2005 event, which was won by the Spanish city of Almeria. The third attempt was made in July 2002 (for the 2009 Mediterranean Games, hosted by the Italian city of Pescara); and finally, in 2006 for the 2013 Mediterranean Games, which will take place in Greek city of Volos.
