CO DITIONS OF SALE Bidding 1.-All bids are per lot as numbered in the catalogue. The right is reserved to withdraw any lot prior to sale, to divide a lot, or to group two or more lots.

11.-The highest bidder shall prevail. Should any dispute arise between bidders the decision of the auctioneer as to the successful bidder and the reoffering or resale of the lot under dispute shall rest entirely on the judgment of the auctioneer. The auctioneer shall regulate the bidding and reserves the right to refuse any bid believed by him not to be made in good faith.

Payment For Purchases 111.-Floor Bidders. The name and address of the buyer of each lot sha11be given to the auctioneer immediately following the sale of such lot. Payment of the whole purchase price, or part thereof shall be made by the floor buyer in such manner as the auctioneer may determine.

IV.-Mail Bidders. A successful mail bidder will be notified of lots purchased and must remit before the lots are sent. Delivery to a successful mail bidder will be to the address on the bid sheet. A person known to us, or who furnishes satisfactory references, may, at our option, have purchases forwarded for immediate payment.

A minimum charge of 25c will be made for mailing and insurance.

V.-Title shall remain in H. R. Harmer, Inc. until payment is received.

VI.-The buyer agrees to pay H. R. Harmer; Inc. a service charge of 1Âź% per month which may be imposed on past due balances .

Authenticity

Vll.--Each lot is sold as genuint.: but when in the opinion of the Philatelic Foundation the lot is declared otherwi c, the purchase price will be refunded in full, provided the lot is received by H. R. Harmer, Inc. within a period of 21 days from the date of the auction. Where an opinion is not expected within 21 days, notification to H. R. Hanner, Inc. within this period that a reasonable extension of time is required, is satisfactory.

Vlll.-Any lot, description of which is incorrect, is returnable only within three days of receipt or within 21 days from the date of the auction, whichever is first. All disputed lots must be returned intact, in the condition received. No adjustments.

The following lots are not returnable: Lots containing ten or more stamps, lots from purchasers who had the opportunity to examine them before the auction, stamps described with defects or of a quality standard of "very good" or below, stamp (on account of centering) where they are illustrated, lots offered "as is." cw York City Sales Tax

IX..-Buyers are liable to New York City Sales Tax as Regulations at time of sale shall require. The present position is that the 3% Tax is payable by buyers liable to tax who accept delivery in the City. Out-of-town mail buyers do not pay the Tax . .-The placing of a bid shall constitute acceptance of the foregoing conditions of sale.

13 ce nts blue "Hawaiian Postage" , type 11, an apparentl y uncance lled copy "used" on attractive envelope to Boston , Mass.

The entire bears red Honolulu U.S. Posta ge Paid in red, and San Francisco Dec. 16, PAID and 8 in blue the last denoting the U. S. portion of the postage contained in the 1J cent stamp. All strike s are clear and fresh . The envelope has fold s clear of th e stamp.

The stamp is an exceptional copy of clear impression and exceptional margins; it appears to be without fau lts. It is unique in that it is THE ONLY "MISSIONARY" RECOR.OED WITH THE EMBOSSING OF THE PAPER - MAKER'S TR.ADE MARK , an oval bearin g th e words "Superfin e Linen " and the British Coat of Arms (H awaii by M ey er, H arris and others - pagl 111 ) It did not rece ive an y d ir ect ap 1 lica ti on of a ca nce lla ti on but th ere ar c fa in t b lue mark s on th e s ta m p w hich may come from pr in t ing ink 0 11 t he back of th e stam p b owin g thr oug h (as with lo t 160) or m ay be a ru b-o ff from a ca nce llat ion of a n oth er lett r T he la t R ea r-Ad mir a l H a rri s st a t es in "H awa ii'' th a t the stamp ·'escaped ca nce llat ion": th e P hi la t e lic Fo un da ti on Ce rtifi ca t e st a tes it is u sed.
