The Robert C. Anderson Collection of United States Postal Cards Mr. Anderson was born in Galesburg, Ill and attended the Univ. of Illinois , graduating with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Following service in WW II in a Navy PT boat squadron, he moved to Houston where he was instrumental in the foundation of several companies before retiring at 55. A lifelong collector and life member of both the APS and UPSS, Mr. Anderson has reluctantly begun auctioning off some of his collections in order to make his remaining collections "more manageable".

The cards in this collection are the result of years of carefully examining thousands of cards in retail stocks , auction catalogs and, more recently , eBay offerings. His collecting goals for each issue were deceptively simple; acquire a mint copy, earliest known used (or FDC) , a proper usage during the con-ect time period and the known en-ors and varieties. Supplement these with acquisition of interesting cancels, postal markings, foreign uses, etc. and you can see how the seem ingly simple can tum endlessly complex. We hope you enjoy the fruits of Mr. Anderson's pursuits and find cards meeting your own collecting goals.

PAYMEN T FO R PURC HASES Payme nt for lots, including those on which opini ons are desired (Co nditi on of Sale 8), shall be as follows: (a) Floor Bidders. Pay ment of the purchase price, or suc h pan there of as Hann ers shall req uire. shall be made by the purchaser in such manner as Hann ers may detennine . Th e name and add ress of the pur chase r of each lot shall be given to the auctioneer immediatel y followi ng the sale of suc h lot. (b) Mail Bidders. A succ essfu l mail bidder will be not ified of lots purchased.

Befo re Hanner s w ill se nd such lots, payment in full mu t be rece ived by Hann ers within three (3) business days o f rece ipt of the aforesaid notification by th e mail bidder. Howeve r, a pur cha se r known to Hann ers, or who furni hes satisfa ctory refe rences, ma y at Harn1ers option, have purchases delivered or forwarded for imm ed iate pay ment (by a dollar draft on a U.S. bank in the case of overseas purchase rs). Mailed delivery will be to the add ress on the bid sheet and pro of by Harn1ers of rece ipt ofa sendin g at the advised addres hall co nstitut e delivery. (a) Purchasers ag ree to pay for lots as specified in Co nditi on of Sale 4 (or as the same may be modifi ed by Co nditi on of Sale 8), and no credi t is exte nded ; a late payment charge of 2 % per month shall be added if pay ment is not made in accordance with the afo resa id co nditi ons. Thi s is 24% per yea r. (b) In the eve nt that a bidd er shall fail to co mp ly wit h these Co nditi ons of Sa le ("No n-Co mp lying Bidd er") , then, as to any lot with respect to which such fa ilure to co mp ly occurs , Hann ers may. in its so le discretion , re-offer such lot during the sa me auction or at an auction at a later time , or by pri vate treaty at such tim e as Hann ers, in its so le discretion , deems appro priate and the No n-Co mpl ying Bidd er shall be liable for the defici ency, if any , between the hamm er price and the net proceeds of a sa le to a subsequent purchaser , whether at auction or by pri vate treaty, as we ll a for all cos ts and ex penses of both sa les, all other charges due thereunder, inc ludin g comm iss ions with respect to both sa les, whether payab le to Hanne rs or to a third pany and a ll incidental damages .
