FROM THE PRESIDENTS DESK Hello all, We trust your year has started well, with the race cars getting prepared and tyres kicked??

Firstly, the HRCC extends a warm welcome to our new members. We know you will enjoy the HRCC community and race/social events in years to come! As a new member, please become familiar with our race and social events, contact names, etc. etc..

We have a busy year ahead, so keep an eye on our FB page/website, read the newsletter and reach out to club reps for any questions.

2025 HRCC Events Track Event 1 – HRCC TTT Day & Classic Super Sprints – Morgan Park, Warwick – 15 -16 February Just a reminder that entries close on 7th Feb. Historically, this first event of the year is more relaxed and enjoyed by all. It’s a social weekend.

Plenty of people work on their cars, spannering and getting advice from other members.

Advice for new members - the schedule is Saturday test and tune (practice), with Sunday sprints. You can enter for 1 day or do both days and get a 2-day discount.

Remember that for 2025 onwards, the club is organising a BBQ, drinks and music on Saturday evenings at all race meetings. These will be at the track in the BBQ area near the pits. You will get more info as we get closer to the date.

There is still some accommodation available in Warwick and camping is always available at Morgan Park. Camping fees can be paid when you enter, via the MSA event entry portal.

Warwick accommodation can get tight, so book early. Or camp at the track and really enjoy the Saturday BBQ and beers?

Track Event 3 – HRCC member only practice day – Qld Raceway, Willowbank - 5 June 1-5pm We have organised a member only practice afternoon. We have organised this specifically to give HRCC members a chance for pre-practice on the QR circuit/s, prior to the main event in July.

This will certainly give you a competitive edge, come race time.

Track Event 4 – HRCC Classic Queensland – Qld Raceway, Willowbank - 4-6 July HRCC intends to create a stand-out annual Qld motorsport event, close to Brisbane. The primary objective of this event is to market HRCC. (an action from our 2024 August planning meeting) We plan to attract large spectator numbers. More event details to come shortly.

In big news, we have negotiated for the southern F5000 group to join our July meeting. They are raw monsters, one of THE spectacles in motorsport and a welcome addition to our race program. We will be featuring F5000 in our marketing for the event. Spread the word about this!

The racing will also include a sizeable grid of Classic Motorbikes, from our new alliance with QEMS (Queensland Early Motorcycle Sport Club).

We will have a full usual racing schedule, so start your planning.

In addition, we are organising a large Concours/ showcar event. Both racing and concours will occur simultaneously over the weekend, across the QR venue. The venue will be packed with cars and bikes, and we are working closely with the QR management team to make this a success.

Track Event 2 – HRCC Autumn Classic Speedfest – Morgan Park, Warwick – 9-11 May This is HRCC’s traditional Autumn Historic race meeting (name change for this year).

Saturday night social - There is a planned nighttime track cruise for the concours cars, plus we are planning a ‘HRCC Christmas in July’ event on the rooftop, overlooking the track. Don’t miss this.

The schedule: Friday - Practice, Saturday Qualifying and Racing and Sunday - Racing. Early Drop-in will be permitted from around lunchtime Thursday 8th. Saturday night – BBQ, drinks and music at the track.

Accommodation is available at the nearby Springfield Lakes region, plus a great campsite with services has now been established at the track.

HRCC We are seeking volunteers to join the event organising team for this big event. An email will go out to all members. If you would like to be considered, let us know ASAP.

Fear not, this won’t lessen the HRCC’s focus on our important Historic/Logbook/COD/5th category vehicles. The club is founded on these and they will always feature at our events.

Roles of club officers and leaders Aside from a few vacant spots, we have the leadership team in place for 2025. It’s probably also worthwhile explaining who does what for the club. See below.

Management Committee � Appointed by annual vote. � Overall responsibility for management, operation and decision making of HRCC. � Management of finances. � Liaison between HRCC and third parties.

(MSA, Track Operators, insurers, sponsors) � Keeping records of management. meetings � Management of newsletters, announcements and outward facing marketing materials, including social media. � Managing membership.

Membership Our membership drive is yielding results, with a number of new members joining the club. The newbies have an eclectic mix of cars, ranging from a D-Type replica and modern/old Porsches, through to Toranas and Triumphs.

Remember, we are asking every current member to please encourage a mate/family member/ colleague to join the HRCC in 2025.

Don’t forget to put your name in the ‘Referring Member’ box on the application form and you’ll get a discount on your own 2026 membership.

Eligibility of cars at events We are all aware the ‘classic and historic’ movement has changed. A 1994 Nisan Skyline is now classic, and eligible for concessional registration. An LJ Torana is over half a century old. To maintain our position as Qld’s preeminent racing club, we need to keep evolving, opening ranks and encouraging a wider range of cars to join in.

On the subject of car eligibility, an important question has been asked a number of times over the past months.

Joe Bloggs: ‘My car is not historic, not log booked or doesn’t have a COD. It’s a performance street or club/weekend type car. Can I still enter HRCC race meetings with these types of cars?

Subject to safety requirements, the answer is usually Yes! We are pro-actively trying to find ways to help people join our events and have ‘invited’ sprint groups, or Timed Trials (a.k.a.

Regularity).

If you have a suitable classic (or modern) car you’d like to track and have questions, make contact with the club persons listed in the newsletter and pick their brains. Then enter the event.

David Paterson is the 2025 Group Leaders coordinator. He has drafted a GL role description, which we’ve attached at the end of the newsletter. It will change once the team finalises it but check it out.

HRCC Leadership vacancies We will shortly be sending an email to all members, advising of vacant leadership positions.

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic members to jump on board. If you want to be involved in driving the HRCC forward and helping shape the sport, we can chat about the role. Get in touch or stay tuned for updates.

Acknowledgement of effort Some committee and GL members have been giving their time to the club for many years. I’m sounding a bit like a broken record, but volunteers are what makes this club happen. If you see guys working at the track, say hi! Let them know you appreciate their work. It will make their day.

HRCC DATABASE CLEAN UP! Attention HRCC Members The HRCC are doing some housekeeping of their database to start the year off on the right foot.

We suspect over the past few years, some member’s email and phone details have changed without our knowledge. This means you would not be receiving any HRCC correspondence. (event reminders, monthly newsletters, news, membership matters, etc…)

“TIMED TRIALS - New name for Regularity”

by Andrew White 2025 is upon us and very soon the track will beckon.

Amongst some of the changes at HRCC QLD this year we have evolved the name Regularity to Timed Trials.

Feedback from not only members, potential members and the public, realised some confusion / lack of understanding of the regularity name, with Metamucil commonly used in conversation Along with above and the slow decline in numbers, (classic vehicles and members) we need to encourage new members and modern vehicles, with the name change being the starting point.

Our goal is to build numbers back up so we can achieve two groups again and to that end hopefully: Classic and Modern or Fast and Slow Modern vehicles, mmmmm, I wasn't keen on this twelve or so months ago, however, times change, and the truth is we need to be more open to ensure suitable numbers on track and in our member base and the club overall.

Anyone with family or friends with a suitable modern vehicle that may like to give Timed Trials a go, have them contact me for more info or just get them to join up and “dive” in.

Timed Trials is a great way to enter car motor sport and relatively inexpensive compared to “Racing” We hope to add some other challenges to Timed Trials over the coming year, for a bit of variety and competition …………. Stay tuned!

HRCC Group Leader requirements/responsibilities (draft)



Be the PRIME point of contact for your Group into the club.



Establish and maintain regular contact with all your members – build the relationship.



Communicate all your member questions and needs into the Groups Coordinator.



Ensure you have a current contact/mailing list for all competitors in your Group.



Share the HRCC Event Calendar with competitors in your Group.



Cross-promote our HRCC events with your HSRCA & VHRR counterparts.



Notify every competitor in your Group when an HRCC event is coming up and notify them again when entries open. Send reminders every week/fortnight until entries close.



Provide the confirmed listing of entrants from your Group 30 days prior to each event and work with the GROUP Coordinator, your fellow Group Leaders and Event Secretary to agree/lock down your preferred race groupings for each event, especially amongst the earlier open wheeler and sport car groups.



Liaise with HRCC Race committee/paddock Marshall and offer assistance to ensure your competitor Group is suitably located in the carports and paddock.



Greet your competitor group upon their arrival at the circuit and ensure they know where to park/unload etc.



Assist first time competitors and ensure they understand the myriad of administrative requirements of their first race meeting.



Ensure that competitors in your Group who are competing at the track for the first time know where to find all the important locations; e.g. scrutineering, waste oil dump, toilets, etc.



Liaise with Event Secretary regarding distribution of time sheets or other documents and advise your competitors that YOU are their conduit to the Event Secretary.



Liaise with HRCC trophy organiser to present Event trophies.



Promote a sense of camaraderie among your Group at all events.



Consider arranging social events for your Group between Race Meetings – or maybe just encourage attendance at our club social BBQs we will be having this year at the VCC, plus the Saturday night BBQs we are holding at the tracks this year.



Contact all competitors in your Group after each event and request feedback, both positive and negative. Collate this feedback and share as appropriate with HRCC Race committee.



Ensure your Group has an appropriate level of visibility and accessibility on Social Media. Be active and post your Group photos on our FB page.



Focus on every one of your group members bringing 1 new member each to the club in 2025.

WELSOR WAGGOTT HISTORIC GROUP Q CLUBMAN IN VERY GOOD CONDITION

1965 RAMBLER CLASSIC 660 CROSS COUNTRY WAGON

With C of D, Historic Vehicle Log Book and a good assortment of spares incl. spare blocks & 3K big port cylinder heads.

Built at AMI Port Melbourne, one of only 185 in 1965, this American/Australian beauty was discovered, unrestored, in Adelaide in 2009 and driven home to Brisbane by the current owner.

Built by Welsor (Colin Wear) in 1972 and was very successful in the NSW and Victorian clubman championships throughout the 1970’s both as the Welsor works car (driven by David Seldon) and then

by Baron Revelman.

In 2010, all rust was removed and a full body structural restoration was completed by Pebble Beach award winning Sleeping Beauties, Brisbane.

It was the first Welsor to feature a one-piece beam front axle with radius arms and a Watts linkage that provides extremely good handling and very late braking plus simplicity in front wheel alignment.

A stunning duotone refinish resulted in a white turret overlaying a lower body in blue whilst internally the original red trim offsets the AMC tricolour red, white & blue presentation.

Its rear suspension comprises trailing arms and a BMC differential with fully floating axles and both front and rear suspensions feature adjustable coilover AVO springs and shock absorbers.

Over the years mechanical overhauls have returned this wagon to a high level of on-highway cruising ability and it features a tow bar.

Braking is by four-wheel disc brakes and it runs 8” front and 10” rear rims fitted with near new Avon slicks.

It is powered by a Corolla 3K engine (1298 cc, twin 45 DCOE Webers, dry sump, electronic ignition, etc) with Carillo pistons and Spool conrods and a close ratio 4speed Corolla gearbox with Modena gears and shafts.

In 2021/2 a complete engine overhaul was completed by Mark and Garry Hammond of Capalaba and the car was last displayed at Caboolture Aerodrome & the Tambourine Classic Car Shows of mid 2024.

Personalised plates, subject to state laws, are included in the sale.

I have owned the car since 2003 and have used it mainly in historic racing and the Morgan Park sprints.

HISTORIC RACING CAR CLUB (QLD) INC. MEMBERSHIP DEFINITIONS: Category A Member (FULL) A person who is actively involved in Motorsport, for example but not limited to, a competitor, an entrant or an automobile preparer. Category A – Full members are entitled to notice of general meetings and to attend, vote and debate at general meetings.

Additional Family person who wishes to be a Category A - Full member of the HRCC, resides at the same address as a current financial Category A - Full member and the family elect to received ONE service i.e.

Newsletter, Oily Rag and Notices from the HRCC, may join at the reduced fee under Additional Family A - Full Member. The current member will be the primary member unless otherwise advised.

Category B Member (SENIOR) A person who has ‘retired from motorsport’, i.e. not actively involved in motorsport as is a Category A Member.

Category B Members are entitled to notice of general meetings and to attend, vote and debate at general meetings.

Category C Member (SOCIAL) A person who wishes to participate in the social activities of the association and is not actively involved in motorsport as is a Category A Member. Category C Members are not entitled to vote or debate at general meetings.

Being a member of the Historic Racing Car Club (Qld) Inc. • Enables you to apply for Concessional Registration for any of your Classic Cars.

• Offers you the opportunity to participate in motor racing events either as a competitor or assisting in the running of events. A member discount is available for every event.

• Provides a forum for the exchange of technical information, literature, and spare parts so that historic racing cars can be preserved, restored, maintained, reconstructed and used in the best historic tradition.

• Provides you with the Club’s monthly newsletter which will keep you up to date on coming events, club news and items of interest.

• Provides a representation of club members views and concerns to Motorsport Australia, the Historic Commission, Committees and Councils.
