Summer in the Ranch One of the best features of living in Highlands Ranch is the variety of HRCA activities available for everyone, and in the summer we boost the number and variety. The Backcountry Wilderness Area Outdoor Adventure Camps are full and half-day in the great outdoors. Kids love horseback riding, animal tracking, survival skills, conservation, ecology, paddle boarding, and wildlife identification. We teach the kids to appreciate nature and prepare them for a lifetime of outdoor fun! HRCA’s full-time Day Camp and full-time Enrichment are theme-based and age appropriate with fun activities like swimming or trips to places like Pirates Cove and Indoor Skydiving. Keep them busy with a half-day camp in art, pottery, drama, cooking, technology, and science. HRCA has been the leader in Highlands Ranch for 30 years offering indoor and outdoor pool programs. Summer classes fill quickly for Learn-to-Swim and Coached & Competitive programs. Try scuba, snorkeling, or springboard diving! Cool off in the hot summer months. The HRCA has sports and fitness opportunities to keep your entire family active. Join an organized league, camp, clinic, or participate in one of the largest tennis programs in Colorado. Get in shape with a drop-in group exercise, try a personal trainer, or race in our family-friendly Race Series. The HRCA Therapeutic Recreation Department offers numerous programs and activities for people with special needs. Enjoy the warm summer evenings at one or all of the free outdoor concerts. Bring a picnic dinner and a blanket and enjoy the Summer Concert Series at Highlands Heritage Regional Park. The first band in the line up on June 4 is the Tripping Griswalds (Rock). Watch for your Summer Concert Series cling featuring the entire list in the June newsletter. Want more fun summer ideas? Check out the Activity Guide or visit the web site at www.HRCAonline.org.

This annual event showcases the best of what Highlands Ranch has to offer. Davidsons Liquor will provide samples of alcoholic beverages and over 30 area restaurants will show off their best cuisine. New for 2015 is an outdoor beer garden with food from local restaurants and beers from local breweries. Michael Friedman Quartet will provide live music throughout the evening. Each year a silent auction benefiting a nonprofit organization rounds out “The Taste.” This year the American Diabetes Association will receive the entire proceeds of the auction. Approximately 410,312 people in Colorado have diabetes which is 10.1% of the population. It is estimated another 1,342,000 people 34.8% of the population have pre-diabetes.
