Spring Events – This year the HRCA has several new spring and summer events and traditional activities that you should enjoy, right here in Highlands Ranch. The Derby Day at the Mansion is a new event and if you’ve never attended a Derby party, now is your chance. Ladies, put on your Derby hat and have some fun in true Kentucky style. Clotheslines and HRCA Covenants – From time to time I receive correspondence that I like to share with you. This past month I received a letter inquiring as to when the HRCA will get green and allow clotheslines. Actually, the HRCA has allowed clotheslines for many years in Highlands Ranch. There are some conditions, however. No approval is necessary for temporary or retractable clotheslines in the backyard that have adequate visual screening and that are taken down or retracted after use. We do appreciate the correspondence so if you have questions or suggestions, please let us know. Thanking the HRCA’s Volunteers – Each April the HRCA thanks the numerous volunteers that serve as committee members, District Delegates, and Directors. These volunteers provide advice to the Board, serve as liaisons to our homeowners, and direct the activities of the HRCA. Without great homeowner volunteers, Highlands Ranch would not be what it is today. Watch our newsletter and the HRCA web site for ways you can get involved in your community and continue to make Highlands Ranch, The Pride of Colorado. Single Stream Recycling - If you haven’t signed up for recycling with your trash and recycling service provider, there hasn’t been a better time. The HRCA’s preferred provider is Pro Disposal and single stream recycling is included in the monthly fee of $11.33. About 3,000 new customers have signed up with Pro Disposal’s program since mid-January. Seventy-eight percent of the new customers have signed up for single stream recycling. Way to go Highlands Ranch. That is a great statistic that beats most communities. If you haven’t used single stream recycling, visit the Pro Disposal web site at prodiposal.net to see what is recyclable. Many homeowners who participate have more recyclables than trash. It’s easy, it’s the right thing to do, and best of all, there is no additional fee for recycling. Home Sales – The HRCA tracks new sale properties and resale properties. The good news is that the number of resale homes that have closed is higher than last year. New sale properties are still quite low, but we also have to take into account that there are fewer new home sections where a home can be built. Landscape Maintenance – May is the time to get ahead of the landscape curve. Time spent early in the season will make your summer easier and keep properties looking better. Remember to step back from your home and look at your property from the street and from your neighbor’s points of view. They will appreciate it and you will have pride of ownership. Happy Spring!

Scott says, “My desire is to help the HRCA continue its responsibility to provide community members with the best possible place to live and work.” Scott Lemmon Nick has served as an HRCA delegate and on the HRCA Board of Directors. Nick has a personal commitment to establishing a positive working relationship with organizations that impact our lives. He looks forward to building relationships that will help the HRCA make progress in building and maintaining facilities, providing programs and activities, and enhancing the reasons people want to come to and live in Highlands Ranch. Greg brings a breadth of valuable experience to the Board as a result of his extensive business background. With his experience in the areas of leadership, financial management, engineering, and communications, he looks forward to making positive contributions to the HRCA Board.
