Beware if a solicitor shows up at your door and tells you your house is out of compliance with HRCA covenants. They may claim you need a new roof, that they saw a problem with the trim rotting, or that you have landscaping issues. This is a scam. The HRCA does not go door to door. You will receive a letter if you need to bring your property into compliance. These people do not represent the HRCA Covenants Compliance Department. If you have questions or concerns please call the HRCA Covenant Department at 303-471-8821.
GO Pa p e r l e s s The HRCA is now offering an alternative way for you to receive your invoices, Newsletter, and Activity Guide. This initiative supports our “greening” efforts and can save thousands of dollars in production and postage costs in the future. Here’s how it works: • Check the invoice mailed to your home this month. There is a red box with your personal account number and password. • Use this information to login to the HRCA Online Billing & Communication options on our web site at www.hrcaonline.org/paperlessoptions. • At this site, you can opt out of receiving your paper invoice by signing up for direct debit and indicating that you wish to receive future invoices via email. You can also choose to receive the HRCA Newsletter and Activity Guide via email link. • Lastly, you can subscribe to the HRCA e-ME eblast to receive valuable real-time information about our community. The options are simple and can save you time while being environmentally responsible. We hope you help us go green and take the paperless option.
scholarship AWARDS ceremony The 2012 Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship awards ceremony was April 30 where 20 graduating seniors received $1,000 scholarships. The Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who reside in or attend school in Highlands Ranch. Recipients are selected based on criteria that includes academics and a component for volunteer service in the community and at school. For more information, visit www.HRCAonline.org/HRCSF.

committee openings Join us and make a difference in your community. The HRCA has openings on these homeowner volunteer committees: Tribunal - Hears appeals of Architectural Committee rulings on non-compliance issues or improvements to property. Recommendations of the Tribunal are based on compliance to governing documents and are forwarded to the Board of Directors. Architectural Committee - Comprised of homeowners with expertise in home improvement and construction. They meet to review plan-sets and submittals made by homeowners to assure they comply with HRCA Residential Improvement Guidelines. Finance Committee - Assists the Board of Directors with financial operations of the Association including monthly review of financial statements, investments, annual budget and audit review. Development Review Committee - An advisory committee to the HRCA Board of Directors that reviews development plans in Highlands Ranch and areas adjacent to the community. Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund Committee - Participates in the selection of scholarship recipients. Committee members review student applications for selection and support volunteer efforts in fund raising and event participation. Science Matters Camps are designed to spark a child’s creative genius. • For the adult and kid runner, there are plenty of race opportunities this summer. The HRCA has adult and kid triathlons: the Tune Up Triathlon on June 9 and Splash Mash Dash Triathlon on August 11. Both are great ways to get the whole family out for a day of fun and fitness.

The Worlds Largest Swimming Lesson and Pool Safely Day is coming to Highlands Ranch. The HRCA is joining with over 20,000 kids at waterparks, pools and aquatic facilities around the globe to host local swim lessons simultaneously in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record and to spread the word that swimming lessons save lives. This community outreach was created to encourage, educate, and develop pool safety and drowning prevention skills to our members. Racquetball Pro Bill Fearing will help junior players get started in a sport that is fun and provides great exercise! Racquetball campers will meet in the mornings either twice or three times a week. Camps are 55 minutes and camp sessions are either two or three weeks long. The first session begins Monday, June 4. Our LEGO® camps are a great way to get your child excited about using math and engineering skills while they learn to build a variety of different things. This month we are offering Flight Club, which is a week-long camp for 7-11 year olds who are interested in building and experimenting with airplanes, helicopters, parachutes, and rockets. Or, if your child enjoys remote control cars, we have an afternoon camp just for them to explore racing cars, stadium trucks, rock crawlers, and drift cars. We also offer Pre-Engineering with LEGO®,
Engineering FUNdamentals with LEGO®, Jedi Engineering, Jedi Masters and Sports Bots all summer long. These great programs engage your child’s mind and problem solving skills while allowing them to explore with a variety of LEGO® activity centers. All camps are facilitated by Play-Well TEKnologies and are 9:00 a.m. - noon or 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Eastridge and Westridge. These are popular camps that fill quickly, so you don’t want to miss out. This summer, the HRCA offers a variety of new science camps with Science Matters that will have them indulging their inquisitive side. Consider enrolling them in Amusement Park Science to build circuits and rides of their very own while harnessing gravity to construct a roomsized roller-coaster. Or, enroll them in Leonardo’s Toy Chest
for the opportunity to make their very own toys like clockwork cars and pinball machines.
