Enhancing property values and creating quality of life through recreation, community events and leadership

Governance of Highlands Ranch Highlands Ranch has all the amenities of a town, but its governance is completely unique. Highlands Ranch is a master-planned community with the Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) providing community leadership, first-class recreational facilities, events, architectural control, and covenant enforcement. The community’s municipal services, parks, and trails are handled by Highlands Ranch Metro District while water and sanitation services are through Centennial Water and Sanitation District. Upon purchasing property in Highlands Ranch, the owner becomes a member of the HRCA, agrees to comply with covenant and architectural controls, and pay quarterly assessments. The HRCA is governed by a five-member board who are elected by District Delegates. Highlands Ranch neighborhoods are divided into 93 districts with a delegate elected to represent their neighborhood by that district's residents at the Annual Meeting of Members. Delegates make recommendations to the Board of Directors on various matters outlined in the Community Declaration. The Board of Directors, serving two-year staggered terms, sets policy for the association. Standing and ad hoc committees play an important role in administering the board policies. Highlands Ranch Metro District is governed by seven-board members who represent the entire community regarding maintenance of roadway landscaping, street lights and traffic signals; construction and management of parks, trail systems, and open space; provision of fire protection; and outdoor recreation. Race Series Celebrates 10 years Get ready to lace up those sneakers and join the fun as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Highlands Ranch Race Series! Over the years, the Race Series has grown to offer a variety of races throughout the community. For 2015, the HR Race Series offers four 5K running races, one half marathon, triathlons (including one adult and two kid’s triathlons), and four mountain bike races. New for 2015: new courses, custom race bibs, awesome shirts, unique awards, and all-you-can-eat free pancake breakfast at all our running events. So start training and get ready to join the fun as we kickstart the racing season with the St. Patrick’s Day 5K on Saturday, March 14. In 2015, the Highlands Ranch Cultural Affairs Association (CAA) received $90,000 from the SCFD to fund its free or discounted cultural programming. Additional discretionary funds are distributed to the CAA to administer Art Encounters, a rotating outdoor sculpture exhibit. The Scientific & Cultural Facilities District’s (SCFD) primary purpose is to “provide for the enlightenment and entertainment of the public through the production, presentation, exhibition, advancement or preservation of art, music, theater, dance, zoology, botany, natural history or cultural history” through funding to cultural organizations.

The Backcountry Wilderness Area is taking a giant leap forward with their summer program offerings. youth camps, horse camps, family activities and hikes, themed birthday parties, and art and yoga in the woods are all in the works. HRCA offers a wide variety of summer sports camps, from sport-specific camps like our popular Tennis Youth Match Day or USTA Junior Challenger Tournament, to general sports camps for basketball, soccer, or fencing, we’re sure to have an something to keep your child moving.
