exciting new agreement with PRO Disposal as the Preferred Provider of trash and recycling services in Highlands Ranch. This is a voluntary optin program that will ultimately save you money. For the guaranteed price of $11.33 per month with no surcharges or environmental fees, you will receive trash removal and single stream recycling services at your home. Please note that if you live in a subassociation that has trash service provided through your subassociation assessment, this program is not available to you. The pricing for the program goes into effect on April 5, 2010. You can sign up at any time, but the price won’t be effective until that date. Each year the rate may change but only by a maximum that will be tied to a Consumer Price Index. Contact information for this program is listed on the front of this newsletter. Trash Day Zones – Highlands Ranch will be split into five zones for trash and recycling pick up days. As a result, your trash day may change from your current pickup day.
RECREATION FACILITIES
PRO Disposal and other trash service companies will be asked to pick up trash and

recyclables only on the specified day in each zone. The zone map is listed on our web

page, HRCAonline.org/trash, along with many other frequently asked questions.

What is the benefit to our members? At present, many homeowners pay about $20 per month for trash and recycling services. If we assume that 20,000 homes sign up for this program, it could save homeowners over $2 million a year. That is money that stays right in the pocket of homeowners in Highlands Ranch. Additionally, this program will reduce the number of days trash trucks will be in your neighborhood, provide better aesthetics, reduce wear and tear on our roads, and reduce environmental impacts. You may use your current containers, or schedule with PRO Disposal for a 96-gallon toter for both trash and recyclables. What is the benefit to the HRCA? PRO Disposal will be providing free trash and recycling services at our recreation centers and for community events sponsored by the HRCA. Each month the HRCA will receive a report that includes customer service reports, the tonnage of trash, recyclable materials, etc. We encourage you to check your most recent trash and recycling invoice to see if this new preferred provider program will work for you and save your household money.

BOA RD corner By Laura Hopkins, Board of Directors When you think of great communities around the world, they all have one thing in common, great people. Thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers, we can say Highlands Ranch is one of the best communities in the nation. One of the HRCA’s Board’s strategic objectives is to provide leadership that represents the best interests of our community, now and in the future. Leadership is extraordinary, yet ordinary. It’s about each one of us, everyday, making a difference - by defining what we value and believe in, and sharing that with others inspiring the achievement of our mission. Just last year, we completed the conveyance of the Backcountry, with over five miles of new trails, which in total gives us just over 11 miles of private HRCA trails. We opened the new synthetic turf at Westridge and the Ice Rink at Town Center, and introduced exciting new programming for these new amenities. We strengthened our focus on the environment by implementing facility-wide environmental initiatives and met cost savings initiatives as well as sustainability goals. In 2010, the HRCA will continue to identify and pursue cost saving programs such as the new opt-in (optional) trash collection and recycling program beginning April 5. We’ll continue to strengthen our relationships with community organizations and stakeholders, and continue to offer first class recreational amenities, events, and recreational and educational programming. The Board of Directors is reviewing their Strategic Objectives for 2010, look for updates
