SCAMS IN OUR COMMUNITY It is unfortunate that there are people in the world that take advantage of others. We recently found that there have been several reports of individuals going door to door requesting donations for the HRCA pools.

Please note, HRCA will never go to your home and ask for donations of any kind.

We will never ask you to pay on a facebook page or venmo for any fee. If this happens to you please advise us and report it to the Douglas County Sheriffs Office.

As we look each year to be more efficient and fiscally responsible running and managing our recreation centers, we look for ways to maximize our offerings while being conscientious with our assessment dollars. As we evaluate our programs and services, we track our service hours and the use for each part of the facility. We will be changing the hours of our pools in order to save costs and ensure better use of our facilites. Rest assured, there will always be several pools open each day for members use, while several pools will close from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. during the day when use is at its lightest.

WESTRIDGE:

Lap pool, tot pool and hot tub: Closed: Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

SOUTHRIDGE:

Activity pool, kiddie pool and hot tub: Closed: Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

EASTRIDGE AND NORTHRIDGE:

EASTER EGG HUNT Hop on over to Northridge Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt! Remember to bring your basket to collect all the goodies to take home. Bring your camera because there is a special appearance by the Easter Bunny! It’s a family event for children age one to nine. Come early, parking is limited, and the hunt begins at 10:00 a.m. Sharp!

GENERAL MANAGER MIKE BAILEY Dear HRCA Residents, Spring is the bridge from winter to summer, and I enjoy this time of year as everything starts thriving again. Now is a chance to plan to be a part of all that is happening this spring in Highlands Ranch.

The Backcountry is drying up, its time to get outside again. We offer many different youth, adult, and family experiences. Join us for a campfire or full-moon hike, take horse riding lessons, or explore the open trails in the Backcountry on your own. With 8,200 acres of conservation space, there is something for everyone.

We kick off the month of April with our wonderful Highlands Ranch Farmer's Market at Town Center, starting Sundays, April 2. The Farmer's Market is a great way to support Colorado vendors and access fresh, locally grown foods. Following the Farmer's Market is our annual Easter Egg Hunt at Northridge Park, 10:00 a.m. SHARP. Bring your kiddos, up to age nine, to join us as we scramble for Easter Eggs. Join us for the annual Volunteer Fair on April 18, at Southridge. We are only successful because of our devoted volunteers, and this event showcases the volunteer needs of the HRCA and many other local non-profit organizations.

Please take the time to review all the spring offerings in the newsletter and come out and enjoy a few of our events.

We are very fortunate to have a disciplined team and board who consistently look to benefit the HRCA for the current time and future generations. With that in mind, our Annual Meeting of the Members is on April 18, and for us to continue to benefit all Highlands Ranch residents, your vote is needed. Please watch the mail and return your proxy. Our Delegate election is essential in continuing homeowner representation at our monthly meetings.

I am more committed now than ever to our mission of striving to build the lifestyle you want to live so that Highlands Ranch will continue to be a great place to live, work, and play.

ANNUAL MEETING OF THE MEMBERS The deadline to return proxies for the Annual Meeting of Members is Monday, April 17 at 5:00 p.m. Homeowners can vote by sending in or dropping off their proxy to the Eastridge Recreation Center, 9568 S. University Blvd., Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.

Homeowners may also email their proxy to Theresa Hill at theresa.hill@hrcaonline.org.

Homeowners who would like to vote in person for their District Delegate can vote at the Eastridge Recreation Center on April 17 between 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. This year Delegates in odd-numbered districts and non-sub associations with a delegate vacancy are up for election.

Anyone who lives in Colorado knows that Spring is very touchy when it comes to the weather. It could be dry all spring or we could be in four feet of snow.

The Community Improvement Services Department encourages early submissions for home improvements, to ensure early approval, and solidify any dates necessary with your contractor moving forward.

Our website makes information convenient for residents and our home submittal process as easy as possible.

Our Home Improvement forms reflect new trends in the industry. Each form is very specific to home improvements and coincides with our Residential Improvement Guidelines. If the file for your home improvement is too large, you can send any attachments to Improvements@HRCAonline.org.

Your address should be in the subject line along with the title of improvement.

This allows us to link your information to your specific improvement.

We have a Covenant Violation Form available to be filled out by residents for residential and commercial violations.

HRCA follows and enforces guidelines from the Residential Improvement and the Development Review Committee.

When filling out a form, it is crucial that our technicians can view the violation being reported from the street or we may require assistance from our residents. If you have any questions about the HRCA being able to enforce what you feel would be a violation, please download a copy of our Residential Improvement Guidelines from our website. Any questions after review can be directed to our department from Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. or through covenant@hrcaonline.org or by calling 303-471-8821.

CLASSES, CAMPS & ACTIVITIES SUMMER YOUTH TENNIS CAMPS HRCA SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS Are your kids itching to get back in the game? Are you looking to try out some individual sports? Wanting your kids to learn lifetime sports? HRCA has you covered! From basketball to fencing to golf, we have a summer camp for you!

All camps are taught by experienced instructors with extensive sports backgrounds. From a former fencing Olympic gold medalist to a high school basketball coach, we have it all! Looking for fun on the tennis court for your kiddos this summer?

HRCA's summer youth tennis camps are just the ticket! Camps are offered from June 5th through August 4. All camps are taught by HRCA's own tennis pros who are excited to introduce your junior player to the game this summer!

The Westridge Recreation Center offers three-day camps from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for kids ages 7-9. Four-day camps are held at the Southridge Recreation Center from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. for kids ages 10-12.

JUMP, FLIP AND REACH FOR THE STARS! With spring well under way, now is a wonderful time to introduce a new activity to your child or help them get back into one they might have left behind. March 27 begins a new session of gymnastics at our partner location, Active Athletics. These classes help your child with increased flexibility, improved motor skill development, and improved concentration. Classes run at a variety of times throughout the week to meet busy family schedules. Join this community to be healthy, fit, and active. Consider enrolling yourself in an art class this month! For the Creative one, we are focusing on springing forward! Try our Modern Calligraphy on Mondays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., Zen Doodling on Tuesday's from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., beginning Painting 10:00 11:30 a.m., and Beginning Drawing 1:00 - 2:30 p.m., on Wednesdays and Beginning, Intermediate, and advanced knitting on Thursdays. If you like getting your hands dirty, consider one of our pottery classes for adults. Multiple levels of Hand Building and Wheel classes run on multiple days and times during the week. The Pottery Studio is a wonderful community art space, and we are excited to welcome new students to the craft! Adult art and pottery classes fill quickly, so be sure to add yourself to the waitlist. CLASSES, CAMPS & ACTIVITIES THREE BACKCOUNTRY PROGRAMS TO TRY THIS MONTH Wild Roots Nature Preschool (multiple days, ages 3-5): Nature is both the classroom and a teacher, and learning happens almost exclusively outdoors at Wild Roots Nature Preschool. Discovery Day (April 15, ages 7-13): Discovery Days gives kids the chance to discover the wonders of the Backcountry Wilderness Area, and costs only $5 thanks to support from the Bass Pro Shop & Cabela’s Outdoor Fund.

Saddle Club (Starts April 19 & 20, ages 7-14): Trade schoolbooks for riding boots at Saddle Club: an after-school, horse-focused class that will teach new skills each week.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS SWIM TEAM Join in the swimming fun on Friday nights. Increase water safety, and proficiency in a variety of strokes, in a recreational environment. Age 8 and older with a physician's approval.

ANNUAL UNLIMITED FITNESS PASS Did you know we offer annual unlimited fitness passes? Annual fitness passes are good for one year from the date of purchase. Purchasing an annual fitness pass brings your class cost down to $2 - $5 per class, a deal you won't find anywhere else in Highlands Ranch!

This pass allows you to attend group fitness classes such as Yoga, Cycling, Aqua, Zumba, Strength Training, and more. Email hannah. yeager@hrcaonline.org with questions.

TRAIL TIPS It's officially muddy season. As our weather flexes between snow and shorts-weather, please make good choices when deciding to use the trails to protect them from damage.

Here are five “ifs” to consider when using trails in mud season: 1. If your yard (or neighbor's Northfacing yard) is snowy or muddy, the trails are likely in the same condition.

2. If you come across a muddy patch, either turn around or go (walk your bike rather than ride) straight through it so you don’t widen the singletrack trails.

3. If your footprint or tire is leaving an indention in the trail, you should turn around.

4. If the night is cold, make sure to get on the trails early before they thaw out in the afternoon.

5. If you want the most up-to-date trail conditions, check out local mountain bike and running social media groups.

CREATIVE KIDS This month, as spring blooms, enroll your 18 mo-5-year-old in one of our Creative Kids classes. For the itty bitty’s, Toddler and Me classes will focus on all things spring! Parent tot classes run on Friday mornings and are a great place to meet other moms! Ponds and Umbrellas are the themes in our Sibling Rivalry class on Thursdays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Rainbows, Streams, and Dirt Makes Mud are our Kreative Kids classes on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for children ages 3-5.

2 Times the Fun’s theme is Gardens, and classes are Mondays from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Stepping Stones, a Preschool Prep class for children ages 2 ½-3 ½ runs on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and the theme is Butterflies.
