At Capital Stud, we’ve long believed in the power of breeding with the world’s best bloodlines to ‘grow our own’ champions. So, after our successful inaugural Broodmare Auction in 2022, we are delighted to be presenting the second edition of this offering – a curated selection of mares from our world-class broodmare herd, in foal to our exceptional stallions. Through this collection, buyers can access the very best genetics, including showjumping royalty like Chacoon Blue, Nabab de Reve and Heartbreaker, and iconic mare-lines such as those of Usha van’t Roosakker.
Ultimately, this seeks to provide a more affordable way for owners to create a champion from the world’s best bloodlines, whilst allowing them the journey of raising their own sporthorse from the very beginning.
And, if you select to keep your mare and foal with us at Summerhill Equestrian after the Auction, we commit to raising your foal ‘The Capital Way’ – exactly how we develop our own winning sporthorses. Auction Opens – The Capital Stud Online Auction will open on the Monday 18th of August at 10.00am. The collection consists of 22 broodmares certified in foal, who will go under virtual hammer on the 22nd and 23rd of August 2025.
Scheduled Closing Times:
• Lot 1 to Lot 12 closes from 18:30 – 19:30 on Friday, August 22nd
• 2 horses will close every 15 minutes.
• 18:30 (Lot 1 & 2), 18:45 (Lot 3 & 4), 19:00 (Lot 5 & 6), 19:15 (Lot 7 & 8), 19:30 (Lot 9 & 10), 19:45 (Lot 11 & 12)
• An additional 5 minutes time is added to a specific lot if a bid is placed within the last 5 minutes of the specific horse’s closing time. This does not affect any of the other horse’s schedules, and is simply to allow everybody wishing to place bids on a particular lot to do so.
• PLEASE NOTE: The auction preview on the website will adjust to notify you of the amended closing time. Horses closing first will appear at the top of the screen.

Please note that these terms and conditions have been amended since our 2021 Capital Stud Auction and it is your responsibility to ensure you have read, understood and agreed to our new Terms and Conditions. These can be found in full on our website and must be accepted by all bidders before the bidding process begins.
Should any potential purchaser of sporthorses from Capital Stud not have read and/or not have accepted and/ or not have understood all of these terms and conditions then such person should not register as a potential purchaser of sporthorses or broodmares from Capital Stud.
In particular for this auction we would like to highlight the following updated information:
1. VIEWING OF BROODMARES
1.1. Capital Stud will provide the prospective bidder with the opportunity to view the broodmares, prior to the Auction, at Summerhill Equestrian.
1.2. All information provided about the broodmares and foetuses is exclusively intended to give an impression of the qualities of the horses and future foals without pretending to be complete and without offering any guarantees.
2. VETTING
2.1. The prospective buyer is welcome to arrange a veterinary inspection of the mare for their own account in advance of the Auction after consultation with Capital Stud.
3. CERTIFIED IN FOAL/LIVE FOAL GUARANTEE
3.1 Pregnant broodmares have been certified ‘in foal’ by a veterinarian in the days leading up to the auction. The ‘loss of pregnancy’ risk therefore passes to the new owner upon acceptance of their auction bid. Capital Stud will not be liable for any loss of pregnancy of a broodmare sold at the auction. The only exception to this exists where the bid is accepted and the broodmare remains in permanent livery at Summerhill Equestrian. In this instance, the purchaser is given a live foal guarantee upon purchase of the mare on the Auction.
4. NAMING
4.1. All foals purchased in utero on this Broodmare Auction will be registered as Capital (insert name of choice).
5. MARES REMAINING AT SUMMERHILL
5.1. When your broodmare remains with us at Summerhill she will be eligible for future coverings from our Capital Stud stallions. This is an exclusive opportunity available only to those mares remaining at Summerhill.
