There is still a feeling of great excitement and anticipation at Capital Stud, as just over a year ago I took the opportunity to build on the foundations laid by the many iconic families’ on the historic acres of Summerhill Estate.

We are proud to write the next chapters of this beautiful estate and to continue to contribute to the rich history surrounding sport horses and Hartford: a beauty and promise that was first discovered by the Moor family over 150 years ago.

My love for sport horses and my vision to see South African horses and teams competing at international levels has never been surer. The purchase of young promising European prospects out of proven damlines such as Usha Van’t Roosakker, Qerly Chin, Fragance de Chalus, Ta Belle van Sombeke and by sires like Heartbreaker, Diamant de Semilly, Baloubet de Rouet, For Pleasure, Cumano, Casall, Untouchable, Emerald, Scuderia 1918 Halifax van het Kluizebos, Uricas van der Kattevennen, Pegase van’t Ruytershof, Scudaria 1918 Tobago Z, and the young and promising Capital stallions, Capital Qorland (Corland x Cassini), Capital Cornet Blue (Cornet Obolensky x Chacco Blue), Figaro D’Isiany (Kannan x Dollar du Murier), Capital Imposible (Verdi x Voltair) and Capital Kronos (Darco x Cash) is a bold statement of my commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of the Capital Stud roster. A roster which currently features leading international sires Arezzo VDL, Berlin, Zirocco Blue, Capital Colnardo, Catoki, Mylord Carthago, Indoctro, Nabab de Reve, Toulon, Chacoon Blue, Numero Uno, Cassini, Cachas, Burgraaff, Douglas VDL and Comme il Faut.

Aside from my love and focus on bloodlines and genetics, I am more committed than ever to the development of our young horses and the Capital Stud team. We continue to seek better ways to give our young horses the best introduction and exposure in their formative years, with all of our horses now spending an extra year under saddle. We feel this and the idyllic conditions at Summerhill, will ensure our horses have the time and space to grow and develop in to the world-class athletes they are bred to be.
