Hawaii Pacific Baptists will gather Nov. 6 -7 for its 72nd annual meeting at Kihei Baptist Chapel on the island of Maui. The theme for this year’s annual meeting is “Planted in His Word, Prospering in His Kingdom” with the key verses from Psalam 1:1-3.Speakers for the twoday meeting will include President Alberto Camacho (Thursday night), HPBC Executive Director Chris Martin (thursday morning) and an East Asian representative. Representing the International Mission Board will be Mike Hand, representing the Western region; LifeWay Christian Resources will be represented by Mike Inouye, trustee; North American Mission Board by Travis Kerns and North Carolina Baptist Convention partnership by Richard Brunson. A recommendation from the Credentials Committee will be to seat the messengers from Engage in Hilo, Hawaii (John Endriss, pastor), Ohana Fellowship in Hilo, Hawaii (Zeke Tomaselli, pastor) and Tokyo Baptist Church, Japan (Dennis Folds, pastor). When Charles Beaucond looks out of his office window he see many homes that need to be reached with the Gospel of Jesus. As pastor of the First Southern Baptist Church of Pearl Harbor, he knows that there’s a lot of work to be done in the community that surrounds the church. FSBC Pearl Harbor sits in a very strategic part of Oahu. On the church website the church lists its location with the surrounding area: “We are just a few miles from Joint Base Pearl Harbor and Hickam, Fort Shafter, Tripler Army Medical Center, Camp Smith, and Sand Island Coast Guard Station. The church is located between Navy Housing (Halsy Terrace, Catlin Park, Radford Terrace, & Doris Miller) and the Salt Lake community.” The Honolulu Star Advertiser said in 2011 that the Salt Lake area was Astuffed with people, ranking No. 3 and 5 in a land to people ratio. The Honolulu data lists the Salt Lake/ Foster Village population at almost 16,000 with 5,484 people per square mile.
