The Georgetown Chamber is extra excited this year to partner with Sussex County Government for their 40th Annual Food Drive and Caroling on The Circle. Both the Christmas Parade and Caroling on The Circle are LONG standing traditions here in Georgetown. Always a start to the holiday season here in Sussex County, the parade signals the lighting of the Christmas tree right in the circle and serves as a beacon of the holidays to anyone coming into the circle during the holidays. The theme for 2023 is Christmas in Toyland which can really bring out the creativity of our 96 + parade entries, so we are extremely excited to see what wonder all of them will bring for us and especially the kids. We are also extremely honored to play into this with our grand marshall this year, Louise Rathfon, a 45+ volunteer for Boy Scouts of America, especially her work with Cub and Boy Scout Troop 95. Please join us in showing her how much we appreciate her hard work. We invite everyone to come out to the circle on Thursday, December 7th, listen to the sounds of the season with Caroling, plan to have dinner with our many restaurants (Café On the Circle, Maudy’s & Carusoes) right near the circle and the food trucks that will in front of Family Court. (Blazin’ Grill, Cindy’s Meals o Wheels, Rehoboth Hot Dog and Freebirds Mobile Bar). Also returning to The Circle is Discover Church who will be handing out hot chocolate. I would be very remiss if I didn’t give a shout out to our Sponsors: Weston Willows, Diamond Fabrication, Impact Graphix, Info Retrieval, Generations Welding & Contracting, Coast TV, JennyGems, Pam Rehabilitation Hospital, TV Delmarva, Little Faces Learning Center, The Rosa Health Center, Baker Petroleum and Leadership Techniques LLC. Last but certainly not least, a huge thank you to the Georgetown Police Department who coordinates all of the logistics to keep our parade goers and entrants safe and the Georgetown Public Works Department who keeps everything together before and after the parade.

Sussex County government is encouraging the public to do their part now to “Pack the Pod” –a 14 foot by 7 foot portable storage shed now set up at The Circle– with canned goods and other food items for the area’s less fortunate.
