Caroling on The Circle
The Sussex County Council is hosting Caroling on The Circle at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2019 in front of the historic Sussex County Courthouse on The Circle in Georgetown. Everyone in Sussex County is invited to join in the singing of Christmas Carols in English and Spanish. Caroling on The Circle is also a food drive for the hungry and needy of Sussex County.
Help Santa in Packing the POd! “For more than three decades, Sussex Countians have come together each year through the Caroling on The Circle program to collect hundreds of thousands of food items and help those less fortunate in our community. We are thankful for their continued support and generosity, which puts food on the table and brightens the holiday season for so many.” Todd F. Lawson, County Administrator
PLEASE bring canned goods for donation to the Sussex County Administrative Offices building from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday or you can bring canned goods to Caroling on The Circle at 6:30 pm on Monday, December 9. Sussex County government is encouraging the public to do their part now to “Pack the Pod” –a 14 foot by 7 foot portable storage shed now set up at The Circle– with canned goods and other food items for the area’s less fortunate. Caroling on The Circle will be held regardless of weather. In the event of rain or snow, it will be moved inside the Fire Hall on South Bedford Street.

Frosty The Snowman Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul, With a corncob pipe and a button nose, And two eyes made out of coal: Frosty the snowman is a fairy tale, they say, He was made of snow but the children Know how he came to life one day. There must have been some magic in that Old silk hat they found. For when they placed it on his head, He began to dance around.

O Little Town of Bethlehem Author - Phillips Brooks
O little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Light The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight. For Christ is born of Mary And gathered all above While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love O morning stars together Proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God the King And Peace to men on earth How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may hear His coming, But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him still, The dear Christ enters in.
O, Frosty the snowman Was alive as he could be, And the children say he could laugh And play just the same as you and me. Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump, Look at Frosty go. Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety, thump thump. Over the hills of snow. Frosty the snowman knew The sun was hot that day, So he said, “Let’s run and We’ll have some fun now Before I melt away.” Down to the village, With a broomstick in his hand, Running here and there all Around the square saying. Catch me if you can. He led them down the streets of town Right to the traffic cop. And he only paused a moment when He heard him holler “Stop!” For Frosty the snowman Had to hurry on his way, But he waved goodbye saying, “Don’t you cry, I’ll be back again some day.” Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump, Look at Frosty go. Thumpetty thump thump, Thumpety thump thump, Over the hills of snow.

Let It Snow! Oh the weather outside is frightful, But the fire is so delightful, And since we’ve no place to go, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! It doesn’t show signs of stopping, And I brought some corn for popping, The lights are turned way down low, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! When we finally kiss good night. How I’ll hate going out in the storm! But if you’ll really hold me tight All the way home I’ll be warm. The fire is slowly dying And my dear, we’re still goodbyeing, But as long as you love me so, Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas Author - Irving Berlin
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten, and children listen To hear sleigh bells in the snow I’m dreaming of a white Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white I’m dreaming of a white Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white

Caroling on The Circle
Angels We Have Heard On High Angels we have heard on high, Singing sweetly throug the nignt, And the mountains in reply Echoing their brave delight. Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo. See him in a manger laid, Whom the angels praise above; Mary, Josepth, lend your aid, While we raise our hearts in love. Gloria in excelsis Deo. Gloria in excelsis Deo.

Joy To The World Joy to the world, the Lord is come! Let earth receive her King; Let every heart prepare Him room, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and nature sing, And heaven and heaven And nature sing. He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove The glories of His righteousness, And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders and wonders Of His love.
