UNWIND AND REFOCUS AT WORK —

Energizing

You are at work and you have about 15 minutes to spare for yourself. Work can be a stressful and noisy place to be, but with the right advice and accessories, let How To Spa guide you for a quiet relaxing session. These tutorials will help you enjoy a great relaxation moment with our step by step guide. You can skip some steps though, if you don’t have enough time or room for example or simply because you don’t feel comfortable doing them at the beginning. The aim here is to listen to your body and mind, at your own pace. We strongly recommend you to turn your phone off or set it to flight mode and avoid any disturbance while you’re relaxing to make the most of it. You’ve chosen the energizing result. For a total relaxation, let us guide you...

Make yourself comfortable

You’ve spent a hectic and stressful morning/afternoon at work. You have these precious minutes to spare. To make the most of this time, start by getting comfortable, try and put the stressful time aside for now.

It’s not often easy to find a place where you can relax at work, especially if you work outside or in an open space. The first thing to do is find that place. It could be simply at your desk (computer screen off ), or in a sitting area, or maybe there is a canteen at your work where you can stay outside meal times. In short wherever you find suitable for you to have some calm. Once you’re there, you can sit comfortably on a chair or a sofa. You can take with you a comfy cushion to put on the chair (product advised from Whole) and a soft plaid to put on your legs (product advised from Sweet Alpaga). You can also take off your shoes, and have comfy socks if you feel comfortable that way at work. You can take all these items with you from home, or even better, if you have a locker, you can keep them at work, ready for you to use whenever needed. You can put on your earphones and listen to some relaxing music, it will help you get into a bubble. We advise you to download: «80 minutes of Music Reiki» on your iPhone (also available on Deezer), or through these websites : https://www. massage-zen-therapie.com/radio-zen or https://www.musique-zen.fr.

Relaxation

For better hygiene, we advise you to wash your hands before this step. In order to have a complete relaxation, you can put on your temples and wrists a roll-on oil (advised product «Confiance en Soi» from 100Bon). You can use some essential oils to create a relaxing scented atmosphere and put some drops on your blanket or scarf for example (product advised from Vie Arôme).

• SCALP & BACK NECK Join your hands together in a praying position (Namaste). Place your thumbs under your chin, and from there, open your hands to slide them from the middle of your face towards your ears. Then spread your fingers and slide them up to your scalp and down towards the back of your neck. • TRAPEZIUS Grab both trapeziuses with your hands. Lift and release, suddenly, as if you wanted to ‘throw them away’. Repeat 3 times. • NECK Sit straight, but bend your head slightly so you stretch your neck (muscles and spine). With both hands, tap your head all over with the tip of your fingers. • EARLOBES Massage your ear cartilage starting at the top of your ear and down to the lobes. This movement boosts your attention.

• SHOULDERS & ARMS With one hand, grab the opposite shoulder, and move your hand down to your wrist and up to the shoulder again. Do the same with the other arm. Completely relax your hand and wrist. By moving your arm, use your limp hand to tap your opposite arm and shoulder, up and down. Do the same on the other arm. • LOWER BACK With both hands, give your lower back a firm rub. It will warm it up. Then tap the back of your limp hands or wrists on your back.

The post-massage time: as long as you need or wish!

Now is time to reconnect slowly with the outside world. Open your eyes again, take off your earphones. If there’s a kettle available, you can have a hot drink (products advised: Sencha Lemon tea from Nunshen; Energie Bio Elixir infusion from Chic Des Plantes). You can also enjoy your drink in our reusable Mandala Cup from Chilly’s Bottle. A book that our team recommends for a better daily life: the book of Hygge.

Spa tip: During a massage, when you are on your back, the therapist will put a relaxing cloth mask on your eyes to avoid any disturbances. This has an immediate soothing effect. In order to offer you an equally experience, we recommend the Relaxation Cloth Mask with flax seeds and essential oils from Les Décousues.

Please let us know and share your impressions on social networks. Your next step? Why not try another of our massage tutorials?
