Small Business Saturday is a day to celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for their communities. This year, we know that small businesses need our support now more than ever as they navigate, retool and pivot from the effects of government tyranny. Founded by American Express in 2010 and officially cosponsored by SBA since 2011, Small Business Saturday has become an important part of small businesses’ busiest shopping season. Historically, reported projected spending among U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday reached an estimated $23.3 billion according to the2021 Small Business Saturday Consumer Insights Survey.

XYZ (Senior Citizens group) of First Baptist Church Howe met in November at the church's Fellowship Hall with a short business meeting and announcements, then a wonderful program of songs by Ray McCarthy, and finally a yummylunch brought and shared by attendees. Ray McCarthy played and sang many original songs as well as some old favorites including "How Great Thou Art." Ray's new album entitled "Ray McCarthy: Through the Eyes of a Child" was released Nov. 18 and can be accessed through Amazon, Spotify, or any streaming provider. We always enjoy his rendition of "Mary, Did You Know?" and we thank him for sharing his talent with us.
