Lady Bulldogs begin volleyball season Tuesday

The Howe Lady Bulldogs volleyball program had an intense week of 2a-days practices last week. Head Coach Ashley Anderson rewarded them with a “day at the park” on Saturday. However, Anderson said that playing on the sand volleyball courts at Den-

ison’s Texoma Health Foundation Park was also a good leg workout.

“I was pretty hard on them last week so getting a day like this is good,” said Anderson. “I wanted to get another practice in without them feeling like

Kindergarten parents will be crying, middle school parents will be highfiving, and senior parents will be flipping through scrapbooks on Thursday morning as school begins for Howe ISD. Summer trips are over and the school year kicks off all things black and white.

The Howe Area Chamber of Commerce hosted an Ice Cream Social Thursday evening at Summit Gardens. The event was sponsored again by Cavender Home Theater who brought massive amounts of all different flavors of Blue Bell and various other packaged ice cream sweets.

The crowd was light, but those that were there were cooled off during the record heat.

Cavender Home Theater is the local DISH provider, Frontier fiber internet provider (outside of Howe), and Republic cellular provider. Remember to shop local.

start with new head coach Lance Bryan. KXII said Howe has “hit the restart button” while KTEN said Howe is ready to “flip the script.” Both are correct as Howe tries to move past a 22game losing streak by winning game one at Honey Grove on August 26.

One must go back to October 18, 2019, for the last Howe win which was a 42-6 drubbing of Lone Oak at Bulldog Stadium. Two games past that, they were unwillingly hoisted by the UIL into the “Little Bix XII” with Mineola, Mount Vernon, Winnsboro, Rains, Pottsboro, Bonham, and Commerce.

Howe has seven 3-4-year starters returning this season, but there are only two players on the roster who have experienced a Friday night win— quarterback Austin Haley and running back Carson Daniels. One of the seven without a win is Ryan Hough who told

KTEN that it’s all about the first win.

"It's about getting ourselves that first win," said senior wide receiver Ryan Hough. "From then on I think it will just fall in place, and we'll keep getting them as we go throughout the season."

Another of the seven multi-year starters Mahlon Walker told KXII that even though the wins haven’t been there yet, the experience plays a factor.

“Well, we’re all coming back so we’re more experienced, we know what’s going on, we’re smarter, bigger, faster, more trained. We just know what we’re doing,” center Walker said.

Haley, a 4-year starter this season says winning will happen in 2022.

“We know we can win, and I think last year we were hesitant on that, so I think we’re going to win some ballgames this year,” said Haley.

it was practice. They’re getting a good leg workout in and learning to communicate and play a different style. It’s just a good fun competitive day.”

The girls scrimmaged Callisburg and Sanger on Friday and competed well according to Anderson.

Howe will face some good competition in the pre-district schedule.

They’ll be competing in tournaments in Denison and Callisburg. Anderson says that the district schedule is tough, but she expects they’ll surprise some people.

“We’ll be in games that maybe we weren’t last year and if you can be in it, you have a chance to bring it home,” said Anderson.

Historically, Howe has struggled in volleyball over the last 10 years, but Anderson says that the culture began to change in April. They began an offseason workout program and a theme of “win the day.”

“Ever since we did that, the mentality has slowly changed and the kids have really bought in,” said Anderson.

“We’re in a different place than what we were a year ago.”

There are 39 high school girls out for

volleyball this season which is 10 more than last season. With three teams (varsity and two junior varsity), Anderson says it’s a good number to have.

There is not one lead horse for the Lady Bulldogs according to Anderson.

She believes they will be a true team where everyone has a role.

“We’ve changed to a 6-2 so we’ll have two setters which gives us the opportunity to have a few others on the net that we haven’t had in the past,” said Anderson.

The returners from last year are Kendall Griffin, Emery Snapp, Talia Bjorn, Korie Bouse, Jordan Brunner, Jenna Clark, and Shelby Taylor. Seniors Teagan Stubblefield, Kiera Robertson, Gabby Vera, and Mackenzie Krueger, who did not play last year have all signed up and will help the club.

Anderson is excited for some younger players also that will contribute such as Presley Shockey who will be in the starting rotation.

“She wasn’t on the varsity last year, but will come up and play big for us,” said Anderson.

Howe will host Valley View on Tuesday for the first official game. The start time is 5 pm at Howe High School for JV A followed by the varsity.

Also, on the ticket tomorrow will be Rebecca Hardy, director of state policies at Texans for Vaccine Choice. She says the group is not trying to convince parents that vaccines are dangerous but fighting for their right not to immunize their children.

“It is not the role of the government to mandate any medical procedure,” said Hardy back in 2019 before the COVID vaccine became a hot topic.

Dr. McCullough stated under oath that there was evidence by January 22, 2021, that there was a problem with the vaccines due to the US CDC Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System that showed too many deaths that have already happened with the covid-19 vaccine than they had from all the prior vaccines combined.

“January 22nd of 2021, the warning bells came off and then nothing happened. We knew on January 29th through freedom of information, our FDA and Center for Disease Control was supposed to be putting out monthly safety reports for America.

No safety report, lesson learned from this committee get a vaccine safety committee together get them together and start having them meet if you’re not seeing safety being provided at a federal level. Remember it's safety, safety, safety.

It would have been wonderful if these vaccines would have worked, but it was all about safety, we now know through court-ordered documents, freedom of information documents, Pfizer knew about 1,000 deaths within 90 days of release of their vaccine. Pfizer knew about it; we don't know if the FDA knew about it.

Nobody did anything and the freight train continued. Now, fast forward as death started to occur people started to get very very uncomfortable, you saw all the pushbacks, protests, all kinds of worldwide feelings of great vaccine hesitancy because people were dying shortly after the vaccine.”

Texoma Patriots to meet Thursday The Texoma Patriots will hold their August meeting on Thursday the 11th at Golden Corral in Sherman at 7 pm.

The topic will be how to strengthen and grow the grassroots.

The speakers for the evening will be Dr. Dana Myers and Rachel Horton.

These two ladies are our newly elected representatives to the Texas GOP. They were elected in June by the delegates at the Texas GOP convention in Houston.

Dr. Dana Myers is the Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Texas. She is a staunch conservative advocate for liberty. Devoted to protecting Texas and energizing the Republican Party’s mission, she has identified, educated, trained, and mobilized grassroots activists committed to winning on principle.

Dana has participated in the Republican grassroots movement for more than two decades, starting at the local neighborhood, county, and now state level. Her goal is to unite conservatives with a grand purpose — to protect Texas.

Rachel Horton is the Senate District 30 (SD-30) Texas State Republican Executive Committeewoman (SREC) which covers 11 counties. Rachel is committed to being a strong, conservative, and professional voice to represent us. She grew up in the world of grassroots conservatives. A small group of families knew that their freedoms and liberties began at home by first honoring God, praying for current leadership, and faith that God would raise up men and women to step in to lead. She followed that lead as she became politically active in local politics.

Robert Henry Walker, 1984-2022 Robert "Rob" Henry Walker, age 37, beloved husband, father, son, and brother was called to his resting place on Sunday, July 24, 2022. He entered this world on August 18, 1984, in Bremerhaven, Germany, born to Randall and Sarah Walker. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Walker; daughter, Maryanne Elizabeth Walker; father, Randall Walker; mother, Sarah Walker; brothers, Matthew Walker, and Bryan Walker; and sister, Amy Walker McKleroy; brother-in-law, Michael McKleroy; and niece, Hanna.

Robert grew up in Anchorage, Alaska where he attended school and graduated from Bartlett High School. He joined the United States Air Force in November 2006 where he served at Travis Air Force Base in California for 10 years. He did many tours in the Middle East. In November 2016, the Air Force transferred Robert to Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, New Mexico where he lived the remainder of his life. Robert served in the military until he was medically retired in October 2018. In 2019 he met his wife Melissa where they fell in love on their first date. Later, they became the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Maryanne.

Robert reached the rank of TSgt during his 12 years of military service. Robert Walker’s life was honored on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, with a Viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Westside. Services were followed by a burial with military honors at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 2:00 p.m.

Living with children The mother of a 5year-old girl tells her to dress for school. The child replies, insolence abounding, “No! I don’t want to, and John Rosemond I’m not going to!”

Mom tells her that if she doesn’t dress, she will go to school in her pajamas. The child dresses. And that’s the end of it. Or is it?

“Did I do the right thing?” Mom asks.

“Was her defiance on that occasion a one-off?”

“Oh, no,” Mom replies. “She defies me about most things.”

“Then you achieved getting her to put on her clothes,” I answer, “but you made no dent in the real problem.”

The real problem is this little girl’s defiance of her mother’s authority. In this case, Mom won a skirmish, but the war goes on. And it will go on and on and on until Mom “nukes” this little girl and puts an end to the war, once and for all. The problem is, the longer this war goes on, the worse it’s going to get. A 5-year-old who tells her mother she’s not going to dress for school may well become a 14-year-old who tells her mother to go jump in a lake and take a deep breath.

Some people think this is too much to ask of a child, especially a child as young as 5. We know, however, that most children born before the 1960s (during which traditional parenting was demonized and replaced with “postmodern psychological parenting”) were obedient by age 3. Even today, in underdeveloped countries that have not imported our dysfunctional parenting practices, children are obedient by age 3. In fact, it is too little, and too vital to the child’s social and emotional health, not to ask.

Most people are trying to build financial security, but it’s also common for those who succeed to encounter frustration and disappointment. Ecclesiastes 5:10-12 gives us this divine insight, “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. As goods increase, so do those who consume them, and what benefit are they to the owners except to feast their eyes on them?

wealth than anyone in the world and yet was miserable. He said that having everything you could ever imagine cannot satisfy and is what he called vanity. Sadly, many believe if they could win the lottery, have their dream house, a flashy car, or marry that amazing person they would be happy, and there is nothing wrong with having these things until they begin to have us. There is only one thing that can truly satisfy the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of the human experience and that is having a personal relationship with God. He wants to bless us so that we can live an abundant life and also be a blessing to others. Remember the man in Luke chapter 12 who tore down his barns so that he could build larger ones? God was not pleased with him being so insensitive and self-absorbed.

We notice this passage begins with someone who loves money as there is a difference between enjoying wealth and it becoming an idol that is worshiped. A popular Bible verse in I Timothy 6:10 says, “For the love of money is the root of all evil, which while some have coveted after, they have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Money does not develop character, it reveals it. I’ve heard people say that money is the root of all evil, but this is incorrect.

Money is not evil in itself, ion fact, it can help people and accomplish wonderful things. The danger is how it can possess the hearts and minds of those who have not learned how to prevent it from controlling them. Again, we see that true wealth is joy, peace, and contentment. This reminds me of a story about a little boy that loved pancakes. His mother told him one day, I am going to fix you all the pancakes you can eat, so he thought this will be wonderful. She started cooking and he kept eating. She finally asked if he would like another pancake, to which he replied, “no mam, I don’t even want the ones I’ve already had!”

The end of our verse in Ecclesiastes talks about how the person who works hard and obeys God can rest in peace, but those who love riches are always frustrated with stress and anxiety. I remember when I was a young boy, my dad worked for a very wealthy man. This person was in the construction and developing industry and built subdivisions and shopping centers and owned several farms and so on. He would drive out to the job sites and tell my dad to get in his Lincoln and they would go for a drive and chat. He would tell my dad that he had not slept all night because he was watching the stock market and was consumed about losing money. Instead of being grateful and filled with joy with what God had helped him accumulate, he was nearly in tears and afraid that he might not be making the right decisions. He was obsessed with his riches and even though he had more than he could ever spend, he was being controlled and incarcerated in the darkness of fear and gloom. We were created to love our Creator and be generous, not to allow the pride of materialism to lure us into a state of disappointment and depression. Whatever consumes our mind controls our life. The more we focus on our possessions, the more entangled and distracted we are from our priorities. However, the more we seek and love God and commune with Him, the more we will reflect His attributes.

In Tuesday’s Primary, 80.0% who voted inperson selected a Republican Party ballot. Only 23.4% used the Democrat ballot.

The result in Arizona was a RINO (Republicans In Name Only) purge.

MAGA Republicans completely wiped out the McCain establishment Republicans. But this didn’t happen only in Arizona, it was a complete Trump-backed landslide across the country. People are waking up by the droves now.

Prominent Iranian activist Hanif Jazayeri flagged online that someone who had been promoting the IEC event on Twitter had an IP address in Iran.

Along with sharing a flyer to the event, the individual tweeted in Persian, "There isn't long to go until the White House turns into a mosque."

"From nuclear weapons to children in Houston, the Islamic Republic of Iran uses all means at its disposal to forward its hostility to non-Muslims in general and Americans in particular," said Pipes.

"Forty-three years after the Islamic revolution, the mullahs have built a formidable international infrastructure ... a global network of allies to promote its Islamist cause, through means fair and foul."

Experts told Just the News there's nothing evidently illegal about young children gathering to pledge loyalty to Iran's supreme leader at an Islamic center. However, they added, there could be illegal activity if there's proven to be certain financial ties to or funding by Iran, which is under heavy U.S. sanctions.

"This is smoke indicating there's a fire," said Noronha. "Congress, state, and local lawmakers should be looking into this."

He and others framed the IEC video as part of a larger effort by the Iranian regime to spread its propaganda and radical ideology in the Western hemisphere, including in the U.S. "This recent story is troubling but unsurprising," said Kyle Shideler, director and senior analyst for homeland security and counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy. "Ties between the Iranian regime and certain Shia Islamic Centers abroad is unfortunately not a new phenomenon.

The use of such centers is part and parcel of the regime's strategy to spread the Iranian Islamic revolution."

In 2009, the Justice Department took legal action to seize four mosques and a New York City skyscraper for being illegally controlled by the Iranian regime.

Analysts who spoke to Just the News also described Iran's use of mosques and Islamic cultural centers to gain a strategic foothold in Latin America — a longtime concern of the U.S. government.

Each year, the Iranian regime invests hundreds of millions of dollars in its propaganda machine

Amid this global operation, some experts are lamenting that the U.S. government seems uninterested in addressing it.

"Clearly very little has been done to address the concerning issue of Iranian influence operations inside the U.S.," said Shideler. "While there is probably not much that can be done about individuals in the video expressing their opinion about the Iranian regime's leaders, it would certainly seem to justify a deeper investigation by authorities to determine what the nature of this Islamic Center is, how it's funded and supported, and whether it has any direct ties to Iran that might justify further action. Unfortunately, with the Biden administration's obsession with getting a nuclear deal with Iran, it's hard to imagine they will take the kind of aggressive counterintelligence steps that would be justified in a case like this."

The Department of Homeland Security didn't respond to a request for comment for this story. However, the FBI's Houston office issued a statement to Just the News.

"We will not comment specifically on the video you're referring to," a spokesperson said.

Rather than tax the richest companies, it instead includes “handouts to the wealthy,” they argue, including “tens of billions of dollars in Obamacare subsidies criminal activity."

The IEC has a history of supporting Iran's Islamist regime.

In 2019, for example, the IEC celebrated the 40th anniversary of Iran's Islamic Revolution, singing, " Khamenei is our leader ... We are his soldiers."

Just last month, the Houston center hosted a lecture on the Islamic Republic of Iran's founder and first supreme leader, the late Ruhollah Khomeini, referring to him as "the great reformer."

Khomeini oversaw the taking of 52 American diplomats hostage in 1979.

"The piecemeal approach to the nefarious activities of Iran's ruling theocracy has allowed the regime, which is detested and faltering at home, to export its fundamentalist ideology as far away as the United States with impunity, this time under the veneer of cultural initiatives," said Ali Safavi, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran's Foreign Affairs Committee.

The IEC didn't respond to a request for comment for this story.

Both Brodsky and Noronha noted that, beyond propaganda, Iran also uses mosques and cultural centers to "recruit agents and operatives

[that] will flow to the well-off. It also increases taxes and fees on oil production and methane, which Republicans argue will result in higher gas prices, larger heating bills and higher consumer prices.
