In wartime, the first casualty is always the truth. ***** Don’s Smokehouse in Downtown Howe is now accepting Snap and Lone Star benefits. ***** Good thing we don’t blindly follow the mainstream media’s lead. We’d have been wrong about Michael Avenatti, Jussie Smollet, Anthony Fauci, Andrew Cuomo, and members of the Lincoln Project. Be careful Mr. Zelensky, they love you now. In review of things the mainstream media got completely wrong— Trump didn’t collude with Russia, Kavanaugh wasn’t a gang rapist, Smollett wasn’t a victim of a hate crime, COVID didn’t originate from a wet market, Rittenhouse isn’t a white supremacist, Trump didn’t commit a quid pro quo, and Hunter Biden’s laptop was real. The jury is still out on the 2020 presidential election being the most secure ever, Capitol riots initiated by Trump supporters, and US-funded biolabs in Ukraine. Let’s face it, the odds aren’t in the favor of the news being right. EDITOR’S NOTE—This column is reserved as an editorial column and may not necessarily reflect the policy of this publication.

In June of 2021, the Texas Legislature passed a bill requiring water and utility providers to have emergency preparedness systems in place during extended power outages of more than a 24-hour period. City of Howe Public Works Director Mickey Phillips informed the city council that TCEQ (Texas Commission of Environmental Quality) has required the City of Howe to commit to an emergency response plan to ensure all customers are supplied water at a minimum pressure of 20 PSI during the extended power outage times. The plan requires the city to be operational by July 1. This requirement forces the city to obtain a mobile generator will be deployed to the city’s “Well Number 3” site on west FM 902 during emergency operations.
