Dogs open Friday at home on new turf Statement from Howe ISD regarding public use of the track: “Howe ISD is pleased to announce that the football field is ready for action, but due to weather delays, the track is still not ready for public use. With the exception of game nights, the stadium will remain closed to the public for another 3-4 weeks. We apologize for the delay, but the unusual amount of rain we received this summer delayed completion of the project. We anticipate everything being finished by mid-late September. At that time, the track will be open for use by the community, but we ask that people do not access the football field.” ***** Don’t forget that if you can’t make it to Friday night’s game, you can always listen online at HoweEnterprise.com or on our YouTube page. ***** I was wrong about the H at midfield. I was hoping for the Bulldog logo, but I was wrong. Clip and save. EDITOR’S NOTE—This column is reserved as an editorial column and may not necessarily reflect the policy of this publication.

Community Pep Rally signals the beginning of the fall season
The Howe Bulldogs will open their 78th season Friday night when the Callisburg Wildcats travel to the newly renovated Bulldog Stadium with a brand new artificial playing surface. A year ago, the Bulldogs

School tax rate lowered from $1.39 to $1.33, effective rate increases The Howe Community Pep Rally was a success Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium as Howe ISD showed off the new turf. Photo courtesy of the Howe Fire Department. The Howe Community Pep Rally was brought back to life after a year absence due to COVID and the all-systems go performance was a great beginning for all things Bulldogs. The evening began with a special dedication to former longtime public address announcer Leon Thornhill. Howe Head Coach Bill
Jehling presented a helmet with the decal of “LEON” placed on the back to Butch Thornhill and Anna Anderson, the children of Mr. Thornhill. The team will have the decal on their helmets for the entire 2021 season. This was followed by a special dedication to former Bulldog player Jesse Farrer who recently lost his battle
with cancer. Farrer’s family was met by Jehling who brought a Howe jersey number 75 that will not be issued this season in honor of the former player and community leader. Jehling says that the number 75 jersey will be framed and placed on the sidelines at each game this season.
