City sales tax
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $1.07 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 17.4 percent more than in August 2020. These allocations are based on sales made in June by businesses that report tax monthly and on sales made in April, May, and June by quarterly filers. In Howe, the figure came to $49,464.62 which is up 8.86 percent from last year’s same period. For the year, Howe is ahead of the 2020 pace by 18.03 percent with a total of $337,915.98. In historical comparison, the amount has already surpassed the 2017 yearly total of $336,623.08. Howe’s Economic Development department began in 2014 with a year-end total of $274,525.39.
