This week started our Summer Reading Program for 2021 with the theme of Tails and Tales. Even though the weather forced us to postpone the Petting Zoo Kick-Off Event until Monday, June 21, there was lots of participation in our other activities.
Kids Krafts with Ms. Joyce made beaded coasters, and adults made folded book art on Tuesday.
In Storytime and Crafts with Angel, kids learned about the stages of a butterfly in WAITING FOR WINGS by Lois Ehlert and then made their own craft depicting that life cycle.
We wrapped up the week with Wee Readers, which had been suspended and sorely missed for over a year due to COVID. Guest speaker Debbie Reece shared tales about animals and the American Flag in honor of our upcoming Flag Day.
Lots of activities continue at the library this coming week. If you haven't already, come in to register for the Reading Challenge. If
you read every day, then come in once a week and let us know, you earn prizes! Weekly prizes include a free book, a What-ABurger coupon, a Sonic coupon, a Tails and Tales brag tag, and your name in the drawing for a Kindle Fire. The Summer Reading Challenge continues through July, so you have an opportunity to get your name in the drawing 8 times!
During Teen Time on Wednesday, June 16, attendees will make adorable folded-book hedgehogs, pictured below.
