Community Pep Rally in August to feature Bulldogs career 1,000-yard passers, honor Thornhill and Farrer

The Howe Athletic Booster Club will host the Howe Community Pep Rally on August 21 at 7:30 under the lights on the new turf at Bulldog Stadium.

This event first began in 2011 and has been held each year with the exception of 2016 and 2020 due to weather and COVID, respectively. On that night, all fall sports teams from kindergarten through varsity, are recognized and get to run through the tunnel to a large crowd in the home stands.

For the first time, the Pride of Howe Marching Band plans to perform in front of the crowd at the event.

There will also be a tribute to former Bulldog PA Announcer Leon Thornhill and the one-year retirement ceremony of the jersey number 75 in honor of Jesse Farrer.

A ceremonial first toss of the season will come from each career 1,000-yard passers in Howe Bulldogs history in which some will throw to their favorite targets from their days.

The 1,000-yard passers are Halen Kirby (1,083 yards), Wade Carson (1,084 yards), Josh Farris (1,092 yards), Jamie Engle (1,427 yards), Andreas Liss (1,620 yards), Clint Grogan (1,722 yards), Austin Haley (2,076 yards), Rick Hanning (2,574 yards), Brian Freese (2,585 yards), Jay Skipworth (3,060 yards), and Chase Fountain (3,749 yards).

Coach Steve Simmons will finish the night with megaphone in-hand as he has done since 2011.
