Independent Bank hosts Howe Chamber breakfast

Grayson County Sheriff Tom Watt and Grayson County Commissioner Jeff Whitmire were two dignitaries that were present at the Howe Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast sponsored by Independent Bank.

The Van Alstyne Chamber of Commerce were also represented by President Barbie Griffin as a few members from their chamber showed up as well.

The bank supplied Chick-fil-A breakfast chicken sandwiches as well as sausage and bacon breakfast tortillas.

Independent Bank's Regional President Scott Bandemir was onhand to meet and greet the guests as well as local Branch Manager Anna Anderson.

The Howe Chamber's next big event will take place October 26 in Downtown Howe for the "Downtown Howe-lloween Festival."

Cross Country runners face the heat in S&S

The weather played a major factor in times at S&S Saturday where the sweltering heat added minutes to some runners' ordinary times Marissa Agee finished 11th overall in the women's 3,200 meters with a time of 13:27.54.

In the men's 5,000 meters, Jake Fabacher led Howe by finishing

27th overall with a time of 19:32.36. Sergio Rico of Howe finished with a time of 23:13 84 while Luke Hardy had a time of 23:54 99 Jason Ortega finished with a time of 24:00 22 Kaleb Strong's time was 25:37.53 and Kevin Bateman finished at 28:19 66
